We were not sure if this was going to be worth doing, but it was. You get a great view and explanations of what you are seeing. There are quite a few steps up but that was to be expected - it is a tower after all. You can go to the top and look around from the turret and then go down a few steps to where the camer obscura is.

A lovely little institution staffed by Gaditanos full of civic pride and funny stories. Excellent, accessible materials on the second floor summarizing the social architecture of merchant Cadiz. Hope the city council approves that elevator. Kudos to the staff and director.

Great view. Informative but not too much.It is a high climb so be sure you can manage it. Check the times of the Camera Obscura shows to get a convenient one in your language

We had read this was worth a visit and were not disappointed. Very interesting reading about this history of the watchtowers and their importance to Cadiz. The camera obscura is amazing - I hadn't seen one before so thought it was great. The views from the rooftop are amazing as well. T The weather was good so had good views . would recommend.

a doubtful February day was brightened by our visit here.The steps are not for the faint hearted, but the 360 view and the camera show were well worth the entrance of only 5 euros for pensioners.The sun shone on us, and the guide did his complete show in English as well as Spanish.He was interesting and fun, good for him!

We skipped the special camera but were still very satisfied with the view. Make sure to go on a clear day and you'll get some great pics if the entire city!

One of the best parts of the trip is going up to the roof after seeing the city through the camara oscura - so it's best to go on a sunny day as you can see much more of the surrounding area.But even if it's not great weather, seeing the city through the camara oscura is fun, and the staff are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable.

Old town Cadiz tallest tower allowed us to view the city from every angle while on top of the terrace or through its optics- the camera obscura. It is unique since the guide explained the history of the city and its monuments using the optical instrument as it projected an image on a white concave horizontal screen, which was situated in the center of completely darkened room. We were a small group but the lecture lasted for approx. 20 minutes. The lower parts of the tower had exhibits about the tower and camera obscura history.

We were students and u get a discount if you are a caracol hosteller. So the 4 euros were a good investment with a different view through the lens of this special device ( i forgot how it was called)Go for it, good activity for 1.5h

We always take visitors to Cadiz here. You first buy a ticket and then return usually within half an hour. Lots of stairs to climb up to the top. On the way you can pause and go outside about half way up to look around. The top has wonderful views in a circle round the old city, where you can see clearly how it all works and get great photos. You then are taken into a darkish room and stand in a circle round the camera obscure. Then you see a reflection of the city in a huge plate like screen and you are shown the different quarters of the old town and the main sights and buildings are identified. Its fascinating to see the residents hanging out their washing on the roof tops and the traffic moving round. Well worth it!

Cadiz is the oldest continuously active sea port in Europe and the city merchants maintained houses that included their residence, an office, a warehouse and very importantly a tall watch tower to communicate by flags with merchant ships in the bay. Many of these survive and Torre Tavira is the tallest. It features unrivalled views from the top and a fascinating camera obscura with an interesting talk in Spanish and English. You do have to walk up, but the steps are shallow and the staircase modern, with interesting pictures, diagrams and displays on every landing and floor, so it isn't a hardship unless you are very infirm. Even if you normally avoid "touristy" things, this is one to catch.

We found the staff on the desk very helpful. We had no interest in the Camera Obscura but had to pay the same fee anyway which was explained to us. It was still worth 5 euros to see the old photos and get the views of the city from the top

For few euros, you have the best view of the city. Moreover, there is a "black room" where a girl show you the important places of Cadiz. It is the first attraction to do in Cadiz before going to visit other places (churches, museums...)

We mainly went to the tower for the views (which are excellent). However, we thought we might as well see the camera obscura as well. It turned out to be brilliant! The young man doing the presentation was really entertaining and presented in both Spanish and English. Really good fun!
