Love rydal water, it's so nice and easy to walk round, it's different every time as the seasons change landscape,

This is not a strenuous walk if you keep to the lowest paths but there are some higher options on both sides of the valley if you want to stretch the calfs. The views are beautiful whatever path you chose. Don't miss the cave and if you fancy a great local ale with some good pub grub the Badger Bar proved a trusty spot. There are plenty of parking options but as for most of the Lakes it's not free. Enjoy !

Lovely place to go, to chill out and listen to the nature around you. Plus its very cool for family and long walks

Found a super walk on the AA website starting in white moss car park, up the fells, past river, caves, lake and country house. Tea room en route and a lovely fell walk back to the car park along the coffin track. Good 2 hours winter walking on solid tracks. Recommend to anyone wanting a moderately strenuous walk

Yes, leave your car at Rydal church (£2) donation for parking in the private road. Walk down to the main road turn left for about 200yds., right over the saddle back bridge follow this road up to the lake and follow the lake path to Grassmere. Coffee in Grassmere and return via the same or a higher path, you won't get lost, but you will be rewarded with a wonderful 7m. walk.

This place is so lovely. Such a lovely romantic walk. Peaceful and amazing views. All people are friendly and amenities not too far away.

Couldn't be better, a warm . still November day, walking around the Water from Ambleside to Grasmere and back along Loughrigg terrace. Beautiful reflections in the calm water. One of the best, fairly low level Lakes walks.

Rydal Water is one of the smallest lakes but one of the loveliest. You can park just off the main road and walk up onto Loughrigg Terrace, where you will be rewarded with some wonderful views of the lake below.

We enjoyed an easy but very rewarding walk along the banks of Rydal Water from Ambleside to Grassmere. There are a couple of tea rooms along the way for refreshments and plenty of seating to take a breather or just enjoy the views.

We loved this lake. We walked around the whole lake. Some of it is roadside ( we called in for a drink at a pub, and walked through Dora's field to the church).Over at lakeside you can walk up to the spectacular caves

Ideal if you do not like the hustle and bustle of other frequently visited places. You can easily spend between two to four hours just walking or seating leisurely by the lake (though we did not see more than two benches). Check weather before you go since there is no place to hide if it rains. Apart from us almost all other visitors had their dog/s with them!! Vegetation is good and paths are clearly marked. Like almost all the places in Lake District, car parking is prepaid which is quite inconvenient. You end up paying for too much if you have to shorten your stay. Inversely, you have to rush back to your car just to extend the permit.

We downloaded a walk around Rydal water on our visit to the lakes. The walk was really clear and told us it would take 2 hours. 4 1/2 hours later we ended up back at our car! I must say the kids did moan and as we are not big walkers. We took one can of coke and a packet of sweets for 6 of us!. I must say we will take water and food next time we go. The walk was hard but we really enjoyed it. The views from the tops of the hills were amazing. We went to the caves at the top of Rydal water and we found this fun to explore. We will do this walk again and would recommend it to anyone who can manage a long walk.

Tucked away but equally as enjoyable as the larger lakes. It is charming, peaceful and just England at its idyllic best.

This is one of the easiest of lakes/tarns to walk round in the South Lakes area. Parking is available off the main road out of Rydal although it can be expensive. However, the different walks are well signposted and easy on the old legs!
