I have been to tissington a few times this year and each time I have had a lovely warm welcome. the people are lovely and friendly. my family lived in tissington back in the 1800s and walking round I feel like I am walking in their steps, because its like stepping back in time . plus you must go to the sweet shop

We enjoyed a private tour of the house and we were able to see all through the main reception rooms of the house. The garden is well cared for and part of a very pretty village. The cafe down the road is owned and run by the family. Self service delicous food in a very pleasant barn conversion.

recently visited tissington village and found everyone to so warm and friendly from the owner of the sweet shop to the lovely lady who sold me home grown tomatoes what an idyllic place but the icing on the cake was a visit to bassetwood farm for good wholesome food and some lovely Pygmy goats to feed and pet, though what made the walk worthwhile was the welcome from the host who made us feel like old friends. Beautiful place beautiful people thankyou for a brill day

I have recently needed a bit of quiet time, a place to think and get away from the crazy pace of life today, Tissington Village is that place. Like stepping back in time, from the Hall that is still a proper home to the fantastic Cafe of which i have become a regular, the old sweet shop, and the lovely old village pond. The whole village is totally stunning , so much so that this is the first time i have ever gone to the trouble of posting a revue. But there is one thing that stands out even more and that is Sir Richard himself , he goes out of his way to make people welcome , he is always doing something in the village ,he has a great sense of humour i have even seen him cleaning tables at the cafe, i hope he does not mind me saying this but he is a top bloke. Take time to visit Tissington you will not regret it.

If you have never been to Tissington you are probably missing out on one of the most beautiful and well kept villagers in Derbyshire. You can take the Tissington Trail from Ashbourne if you are feeling fit or just drive to this lovely village. You can just wander around the village and take in the wonderful scenary of the surrounding countryside.

We hadn't planned to tour the hall, but found it open when visiting the village. There was no-one else on our tour so the 4 of us had a private, half hour tour of the house, with fascinating stories from our very knowledgeable guide. It was lovely to see evidence of it being a private residence - photos, toys etc. Had the weather been better, we would have walked round the lovely gardens too - we could see the rose beds from the house windows.Instead we sought shelter in the welcoming tea rooms next door and treated ourselves to tea and delicious cakes. The hall is only open for 28 days in the year so it is best to check their website for dates.

Whether you are cycling/walking the Tissington Trail, or just visiting the Hall and Village, take a little time to appreciate how unspoilt this lovely old village is.The Tea Rooms are good quality, but I would give the Nursery a miss, it needed a lot of TLC (and a few plants)

I mean Tissington not the house as it's only open 28 days throughout the year. However the village is a must on your list of places to visit. We only stopped there on the way past as a craft fayre was advertised, but I'm so glad we stopped. This is by far one of the prettiest places I've been too, and the main house just adds a wow factor.

Lovely to see such a beautiful house being lived in and enjoyed by a family A pleasure and a privilege to visit and be shown around by a knowledgable and friendly guide Visited over the well dressing weekend which was interesting to see A delightful village in a beautiful part of the world We visited Derbyshire at short notice and had wanted to stay in Nurses cottage but sadly the estate couldn't be flexible with dates-even though these were available so we stayed in a nearby village and walked across to Tissington The village is all part of the estate and a delight to walk around Lovely cafe and delightful old fashioned sweet shop that shouldn't be missed
