Met up with a friend from Birmingham at Belton House as we are all NT members. Was surprised to find an NT property open so early in the year. Headed for the Stables Cafe and had coffee and scones, both of which were first class. Went on the Below Stairs tour which was really interesting, lasting around 1 hour. As always the guide was knowledgable and friendly. After the tour we wandered around the house on our own and really enjoyed it. Gardens were just starting to shows signs of spring. Quite expensive if not members of NT. Gift shops a bit of a disappointment but in the whole a good day out.

This national trust property is well worth a look (especially if you are a member and can get in for free). It is a very interesting history lesson, and it has the added bonus of having a large adventure playground for the kids (young and old alike).

Been here a number of times - the gardens are always well kept and the staff in the house and around the gardens are friendly and approachable!

We only walked around the grounds as Belton House was closed for Winter but the grounds looked wonderful with the snowdrops in ful bloom

We knew the house was closed but a walk in the grounds was interesting. Then we found there was a basement tour which we did (included in the 'grounds' ticket). The guide was excellent and taught us a great deal about how life had been 'downstairs' for the servants of the house.

Visited today for the first time and we have to admit it has been such a lovely day. We arrived expecting the house to be open but unfortunately have to wait a little longer for that pleasure. However we were given a wonderful, informative tour of the lower ground floors of the house an insight to the lives of the servants that worked here by a very knowledgeable and entertaining member of staff. Lunch was excellent and very reasonably priced served in the restaurant. Lovely grounds and park to explore. Shame the church was not open for visitors. Altogether, would highly recommend Belton House and look forward to a return visit when the house is open for the season.

Have realised we wasted £5 a head yesterday going to privately-owned Hodsock Priory to see the snowdrops (see separate review). In these National Trust gardens today we saw thousands over a much bigger area, and with firm footpaths underfoot. Aconites and crocuses too, and deer wandering about the park; acres of daffodils just beginning to break through. Wheelchair accessible for the most-part.These gardens are beautiful the year round, well maintained and so much to see and do for adults and for children. An excellent day or half-day out for the family.

We have visited many times with the children and dogs. There is plenty for the children to do both indoors and outdoors with a great adventure playground. The house is worth a visit and very interesting. Ours dogs enjoy the lovely walks and we live local so just up the road. There are lots of Deer and sheep around so best to keep your dogs on a lead whilst on the walk.

A beautiful house with interesting rooms for the adults and two play areas for children. The gardens and grounds are well set out and full of interest. There are three places to eat ranging from snacks to full meals. A full day for the family.

Went Sunday to see snowdrops. Had coffee and cake which enjoyed as usual. Car parking a bit confusing and also where best to walk to avoid cars coming in and leaving. Very lucky having this so close to where live.

Have been on a number of occasions and will go again. Although the house on this occasion was closed what we mainly go for is the walk around the gardens and lakes which always beautiful at any time of year. We also had a very pleasant walk of around three miles around the deer park.
