Love, Love, LOVE the New Forest! Have visited several of the towns & villages within, during our last 3 holidays and it's a brilliant experience, especially if you're lucky enough to see the animals out & about. It was totally amazing being in a traffic queue behind a herd of ponies coming up the road! :) Then spotting people playing golf amongst a herd of cows!! And seeing a pony standing at a bus stop in Burley... haha.... fantastic!! Talking of Burley, some great little shops there & lots of visiting ponies around them! Animals aside, the forest is such a beautiful place. My new favourite place to holiday! We have only driven around, and walked through towns as a member of our party has mobility issues... but it would be even more magical to actually hike/walk through the forest, off road.Cannot recommend the New Forest highly enough~ it's spectacular! As my review title says... it really doesn't get any better than this... simply a fabulous place!
Picturesque and lovely ponies. Good to drive my mum around such lovely scenery, due to her being unable to walk on uneven ground
Lots of areas within the Forest for walking and attractions to visit if the weather is bad. Easy access to the coast - less than 30 mins drive to Christchurch
lovely area and lovely place to walk the dog and with beaches not to far away with walkways. The town of Lyndhurst is very quaint with lots of tea houses.
Wonderful place to visit :) Unspoilt nature. Spectacular views for miles and miles. Really romantic for a little getaway :)
It was amazing, so interesting and lovely. Wonderful places to walk and sit and commune with nature. Will return as soon as we can.
The New Forest is just that bit special. Huge, unspoiled areas of woodland and open fields to be hiked across, great camping, beautiful coastline, free-roaming animals, cute old fashioned villages... what's not to love?!? Oh, and as for the cream teas, mmmmMMM!On top of that, it's an easy direct train journey (on a good line: South West) out of London. I'm looking out the window at it now on a relatively grey day and it's still stunning. There just isn't a bad day to be in the Forest.
for us a short 2 hour drive from north London transports us in a idyllic surroundings. The latest visit had been our 5th or so. All the little villages and towns around the New Forest have a lot to offer. Our children, now grown up also visit the area since we introduced them to it 20 years or so ago!
We loved the New Forest. The scenery was simply stunning with plenty of areas set aside to pull the car off the road and stop for sight-seeing or picnics etc. The ponies were relatively tame and unphased by people stopping to look at them and take photos etc.
Drove through on a coach tour which allowed all of us to enjoy the sights and be given great information from our driver. The scenery was beautiful even though it was still winter. Plent of ponies and wildlife to see. I will return in warmer weather
Wildlife and nature galore. Worth spending a few days in the new forest, much of which is very old! Check out new forest walking trails online. Good for cycling too
Go to visit the new forest as often as I can - it's such a special place. So well managed and accessible to all. Beautiful ancient woodland and wide open moorland. Educational areas and plenty of space to run around.Lovely towns where you can browse the shops or visit churches etc.If you haven't bee, you really need to!A truly magical place.
Any season the New Forest is a lovely place to be. In the summer it gets buisier but never so buisy that you can not be on your own to walk in peace and quiet with just the new forest ponies for company and the occasional cow, pig or donkey and of course depending what time of day you may even see deer. There is s deer viewing area Bolderwood which is fantastic and many small lakes to sit a while. The New Forest is steeped with history and you can see where the air craft used to take off and land and even see the remians of the old airfields and control tower depending where you are. If you can, load the bikes on the roof rack as there are miles of good cycling to do across country and there are usually ice cream vans blotted about for a cold refreshment! Make sure you visit, you will love it!
One of the great places to walk and explore, wander for miles, fairly level in most places, New forest ponies are a delight, pubs to visit, little towns to shop in and hotels to stay in, what is there not to like, summer or winter, its a great place to unwind. Traffic can be a big problem in the summer.you have been warned.
Fantastic scenery despite the weather on Sunday but didnt stop us taking in the fantastic walks. Lyndhurst is quaint but busy and very accessible to surrounding towns
