A great attraction at the start of the Highland Tourist route. It has a varied selection of interesting vintage and non vintage vehicles. On each visit treasure trails around the museum were organised where children were to locate various items on or in the vicinity of the exhibits. My grandson is always keen to vist this facility. Well Done to the Museum and its staff.

My husband and I visited this Museum recently and had a very enjoyable morning. The exhibitions were well displayed and interesting, and we particularly enjoyed the Great Train Robbery, and the 60's display was also great fun, but the highlight of the day was the beautiful fairground musical organ, which was switched on especially for us and really quite special. Probably the last thing we expected to see in rural Aberdeenshire! The only downside was the tearoom where there was no chance of a cappucino as the machine was broken? So it was either tea, or tea, but all the Dinky models made up for the uninspiring tea room.

Thank you for your comments. The event that you recently attended was organised by Supercar Scotland. Our Curator, however, will take steps to urge the organisers to integrate the event more closely with the museum. Most of our visitors have a positive experience and it is very frustrating when site hirers damage our reputation. You may not be aware but we are currently fundraising to build a new visitor reception which, once complete, will help address your points about the toilet by providing state of the art loo facilities. These will be located outwith the pay perimeter. You can see these improvements and find out more about the project on our website. The Travellers Rest is a tea room and not a restaurant and as such provides light refreshments and light lunches.Thank you very much for your feedback.

I had been here a long time ago and couldn't remember much about it. However now with a 3 year old & 7 year old in tow we chose a day with the steam rides on. The children were given quizzes to do and enjoyed looking for the items all over the museum. My 3 year old especially loved the huge plow he was able to climb on. After a good long look around we had some very nice lunch in the tea room which was reasonably priced. Then onto the steam rides which were very interesting and fun. All in all a grat way to spend a few hours which we all enjoyed.

A transport museum is somewhere my husband would enjoy more than me ..... usually. This museum though is really excellent. Such a variety of modes of transport on show, plus one or two other things e.g. a dalek (quite scary close up!) and an ornate fairground organ. The staff are friendly and helpful. Thoroughly recommend everyone goes.

Visited the museum recently with friends as the weather at the time was very misty and raining it was the ideal day to go,, and we are certainly glad we did there are lots of very interesting exhibits ranging from horse drawn carriages ,,motorbikes,, cycles,, cars,, lorries and even a old fairground organ that the staff put on for us and the other visitors to listen too,, overall its certainly worth a visit if your in the area,, Alford is only a small town but has several other local attractions to go and visit aswell

For some reason I wasn't expecting much from this museum. However it is very good indeed and well worth the visit. They have a vast range of items as shown on their web site. Also a very good cafe which they are going to make available to those not visiting the museum. A very good idea. There is enough there to make a second visit worthwhile. The only down side is that they indulge is the "Gift Aid" slight of hand where you are expect to pay more to Gift Aid your entrance fee. Something I will not do, they should arrange the entrance fee to include this if they want visitors to do it. Other attractions seem to manage it.

Visited this museum last week and was very impressed. Not only have they great items of transport history but also the story of the Great Train Robbery which is still fascinating. There is something for all ages and very helpful staff. This museum is worth a visit for all ages.

We have visited this museum a few times now and they always strike a perfect balance between old favourites and new exhibits. The staff are helpful and approachable without being over the top and the Great Train Robbery part was absolutely fascinating and very informative. The trike and the toys were a nice surprise too. Museum is clean and well looked after and the little cafe is lovely.

Good exhibition worth the £5.00 entry fee. The information attached to the exhibits was very helpful. Old cars, motor bikes, stagecoaches and even the Lorry ( truck ) used in the Great Train Robbery.

We had not planned to stop in Alford but were so pleased we did. The Grampian Transport Museum was possibly the best attraction were visited whilst in Scotland. Very well presented and interesting museum. The Great Train Robbery just added to our visit as we used to live in the area. Lovely tearoom too. Thank you.

We visited the museum 16 August, the staff were very friendly and the museum was very good. The children had the driving lessons which they found very enjoyable.

We visited during the Great Train Robbery exhibition - truly fascinating. It was also great that my grandson was allowed to sit on some of the vehicles on show, he was fascinated by the snowploughHe also took part in the quiz where we had to find things that had been hidden throughout the museum and was proud as punch when we found them allA great day out

We visited the Grampian Transport Museum the Sunday 17th of August 2014 and we really like it very much!! It is a very complete museum: cars, trams, bicycles, motorbikes, information videos, other vehicles and you can also climb into many vehicles (great photo session...) and everything is clean and very well presented and explained. People at the reception were very friendly and helpful. The parking is large and the museum direction is well shown when you enter Alford. The museum is all covered, so a great idea for a rainy day.We definitively recommend this museum for visitors of all ages.

Lots of exhibits to see and read about. Our group covered 3 generations and all thoroughly enjoyed it. Good to be able to get on some of the vehicles too. Unfortunately there were no special events on the weekend we went. Would go again when something different is on.
