We loved the situation of the Smokery, shop and Water Garden and all the lovely items for sale from all over Scotland. We bought some of the smoked product and had them later for our dinner and also took some home for us and our parents and they were all gorgeous. We treated ourselves to lunch in your restaurant and it was delicious, we both had the smokery plowmans…again delicious. We will be back again and would recommend a visit at anytime…
Little in the way of 'garden centre' at this time of year - but excellent Christmas goodies and a superb 'deli'.Good parking (off A698) and wheelchair access.
Have been to shop many times but never eaten here beforeWe visited the first week in December so opted for Christmas lunchThe restaurant wasn't busy so seated immediately and service was attentive and friendly Food was lovely and with a glass of wine was value for money Love having a wander around the shop afterwards and spent a lot of money on gorgeous Christmas decorations!
The teviot smokery is a brilliant place for food or coffee with a lovely setting and great staff, we have never been let down at this place, in fact it is the farthest away coffee shop from where we live, but always our first choice.Well done Russell
The coffee shop offers food and drink to die for. The water gardens offer a walk along the banks of the river Teviot. Best done on a nice day as the wind blowing down the river can be chilly.
As I live local I go to the smokery quite a lot I have no complaints in any department the shop has lots of little gifts and bits an bob's ..the walk by the river in summer is lovely...... but equally nice wrap up well and have an autumn walk ...my only suggestion is the lunch menu could have a bit more choice in snacks like the sandwich fillings I don't eat fish so only had a choice of two fillings I know your more restaurant than cafe but toasties an baguettes are a very popular lite lunch but even if you don't change our menu will still come back as the food and cakes are always spot on
It is an excellent venue for coffee, tea or lunch. Tasty food and friendly staff. There is also an excellent food and gift shop attached - the smoked items are the obvious choices!
Loved my visit! Brilliant restaurant and shop with friendly staff who are always on hand to help. Will be back again for sure.
A repeat visit from last year, the principal aim to buy some Wild Smoked Scottish Salmon for a birthday treat. A very pleasant and courteous Lady Assistant explained this was not possible and indeed illegal, unless I caught the Salmon myself !!!!!. She advised I could only buy farmed Salmon (Orkney) which was smoked. I did so including off-cuts which were delicious. It seems silly to be on the banks of big Salmon Rivers i.e. Teviot and Tweed and not be able to buy the fruits of the water. Apart from that good selection of gifts, confectionery etc and again the Lady Assistant gets 5 stars for superb customer service
We stopped here for 45 minutes after leaving Berwick on the way to Jedburgh. This smokery is a fine place to shop for quality food and local produce, much variety and it's a great place to browse if nothing else.We took a walk through the garden down to the river and along the river in bright sunshine but watch the steep steps if it's been raining.
This was a surprise, as I did not expect such a pretty riverside walk along the Teviot. A bit of a steep climb back up from the river but worth the effort. Good quality goods in the large gift shop and a lovely cafe with pleasant staff too made my visit very nice.
The restaurant offered some good food with good service. The icing on the cake was the walk around the water gardens and by the river. Water lilies were emerging from buds as we walked around..beautiful. The river walk was peaceful and we really enjoyed the variety of flora and fauna. The shop offered a huge variety of goods from plants/bulbs to sophisticated perfumed goods and some ,lovely pottery and jewellery. Lovely!!
We had lunch in August. The Restaurant was very busy on a red hot day service was good.Had the Salmon Salad, Smoked, Poached and Skokie. Served with lovely fresh Olive bread.A pot of excellent tea all for about £25?. We will return.
This is a favourite meeting place when I come to the Borders with my family. Whatever time of day we turn up, a table is always made available and we are given a warm welcome and a deft appraisal of the menu. We have enjoyed home baking (the custard creams are delicious and a factory version will never again satisfy the palate!) main courses and desserts at various points. All have been delightful. Like other places, the water gardens have suffered a little in these hard times, however, the views from the veranda are wonderful throughout the year- look out for the kingfisher! While dogs are not allowed in the Water gardens, there are several walks available nearby, so bring your dogs to the outside seating area then reward them with a lovely stroll by the river.
We love our visit when down from Edinburgh. It's a lovely place to walk, potter, and dine . . . Amazing how things that irk some do the opposite for others, as read on here . . . like winging of the NOT being served to me most annoying "americanized" size of coffee servings, can't STAND 'soup' like servings - good on you Teviot . . . and by the way, interesting the quality big or small, was not mentioned and that get's top marks too !!!Having been round the menu many times - I settled for 2 starters and a sweet + a rather lovely (standard sized - thank you) coffee !!!!See you again soon,Bobs HPS - no surprises I recommend you DO rush to make this part of your holiday (and BTW its spelled :) itinerary !!!
