Looking up to the Lutheran Cathedral above is pretty amazing. The square is clean and there are some nice benches where you could take a picnic on a nice day.

Not much to do here but definitely worth seeing if you are nearby. There's a couple of souvenir shops adjacent to it - one of which sells a lot of handmade unique items.

Was kind of deserted in March when we went, and from the looks of it, is more simpler place. Nice picture opportunity though. Worth a swing by of course.

Impressive square in the center, that attracs a lot of people. A nice place to stroll along and enjoy the atmosphere. Nearby you can easily find a café, or you can sit on the stairs for a rest.

This is the center between the church, the government and the university, and the buildings seem to lean into the large square. A bit cold in february, probably much more inviting in summer.

Its beautiful landmark, in the summer you can sit on the stairs and relax. But honestly, there is nothing special about it. From the inside its boring and there's only some benches to sit on.

The Senate Square is one of the main tourist attractions of Helsinki. Climb the stairs and take the top step. It's the best place for coffee break.

This was a stop that was included in our whole half day tour package of Porvoo, the horse farm and a general tour of Helsinki. It was a very beautiful square and suprisingly not overly populated on the day that we were there. The buildings have very nice architecture and everything is very clean. We did not go into the catherdral, though others on the trip said that it was beautiful inside. On the roadside of the square, there are shops across the street, which we visited. They had very nice things to browse through. They also had places for a beverage or coffee or snack. It was nice to get out of the bus and walk around the square and the shops.

We visited last week, and the Square is huge. For better views it's best to climb to the top of the steps and look down onto the square. It was pretty empty when we visited, mainly due to it being in February and rather cold and windy.I can imagine though, it's a great place to be when the christmas markets are there, or during the summer period when there's lots of people relaxing and enjoying themselves.

The place is absolutely stunning! It was one of the first views I showed my friend when he visited Finland and he wasn't disappointed! The Cathedral is worth visiting as well :)

It is just an ordinary place, with a monument, a staircase and a big white church that does not have much else inside, besides a chandelier and benches to sit.

Standing in the centre of the square getting a light covering of snow listening to classical music by bells. Worth the evening walk from the hotel. Loved it.

Not really much to see around. The square was empty when we were there. I do understand the historic importance of this place but I think that they still have the statue of a Russian dictator left there? Wouldn't miss much if you were to skip it but then again it's not that Helsinki is full of landmarks..
