Nice experience, mostly for the families with kids; very bad service in the bar downstairs- fighting with clients; keeping the tables reserved even nobody was comming for them for 1 h
Overall a nice museum, lots of well presented stuffed animals, some of which I didn't even know existed. There is also a fantastic skeleton of a prehistoric giant elephant
Since the museum has been re-opened I can state that it is an experience not to be missed! Here is the site where you can check (in English) more details, hours and prices: http://www.antipa.ro/en
This was an amazing piece of experience! Wonderful and various things to see! a little bit to crowded but it worth the waiting!
for kids and gown ups too. recently renovated it has a lot of interesting items to see. Impressive. Located in Victoria square
I have read and heard that the place has been recently renovated and I guess it shows in the layout and the structure of the whole place. The place has really got impressive collection and definitely takes about two to three of your hours to complete the place. The sections and the blocks are made easy for effective maneuvering. Good for both young and adults.
Look out for the giraffe at the front of the premises to know you've found this attraction. Admission prices: regular = 20 RON, pupil/student = 5 RON, senior = 10 RON. Audioguide = 10 RON. Photo tax = 10 RON. Cash or credit card accepted - use one of the machines just inside the entrance. Pros:-Multiple floor of exhibits. -Interactive touch screen panels with English language option. -Tactile exhibits with Braille labelling. Tactile flooring to guide the visually-paired. -Small gift shop selling jewellery, children's toys, postcards. A disappointing range of products. -Lockers. Cons:-Photo tax = 10 RON. However, there are ample photo opportunities. -Toilets need to be upgraded and enlarged. -More seating on each exhibition floor would be useful. -Cafe closed due to refurbishment during my visit. I ate at 'Springtime fresh food' round the corner. Turn right out of museum entrance/exit and cross the main road. There's also a McDonalds, Subway and Starbucks Coffee in the same street.
Being renovated a coupe years ago, this museum is a very nice way to spend a few hour learning about natural histroy. Especially for children i think it is great, but as adults you will not regret visiting.
This museum has been restored and it is absolutely amazing. The old building was impressive as well but now, that the restoration was done, it is worth a visit. Good for family with children. From time to time they have some additional collections to show : live reptiles, butterflies.
Plan to visit it, it will keep you busy at least 2-3 hours with his great collections, kids also will appreciate it.
Great work with the collections. As an art major we need to study comparative anatomy so it was helpfull. I wasn't able to visit the human body exibition but I heard it was well prepared
the entrance is marked by a cute giraffe made out of some kind of foam and the interior is fabulous. From life size skeletons of various creatures to ordinary pieces found normally in a museum, here there is something for everyone
The musem is pretty popular. There are all sorts of animals from ancient times. very good for children to learn something about natural history. It is not expensive. Worth it!
It is worth seeing it. For me, I pass by much of the information they give you since they present it from a evolution point of view. I believe in Creation. Regardless what you believe, the artifacts are something one should see.
The Grigore Antipa National Museum of Natural History is a great way to discover interesting things about the plants, animals, birds in Romania and the rest of the world, together with their natural ecosystem, nowadays and from the past. The displays show the animals in real size in a very realistic way with their ecosystem. If you want to learn more about each animal in the display, there is a touchscreen available with everything arranged in the same way as in the display so you can easily identify them. You then simply double touch them and a lot of information will be displayed on the screen. The animals, plants and background create a realistic image and help you form a good picture about the things that are presented. There are also bones from dinosaurs arranged at natural size and shape and an artificial cave. If you want, you can get an audio guide. The place is quite big and it took us two hours to visit it. I found the museum interesting and I think it is worth visiting.
