One of many similar Monasteries. You can visit them during "Monastery Tours" widely sold in many Cities in North Romania (e.g. Suceava). The best way to do that is to rent a car and see them on your own. Why they are worth seeing?- amazing paintings, kind of an architectural signature of these small churches/monasteries. They are not big enough to hold the whole village inside so people outside are able to see paintings and be part of whole ceremony.- great gardens, very well organized, most of them are state of art when it comes to landscape architecture -some of the monasteries are selling their food products and offering rooms to spend a night, it is always unforgettable experience-you can see an orthodox monk and talk with them, they are usually quite well educated and know few languages- these are part of great Romanian Cultural Heritage and absolutely must see
Love the little shops by the parking area, the painting is really something neat. Lots of little trinkets for the kids
I had a short trip in the spring of 2014 in the region, at Iasi, but I took the time to visit this old and beautiful monastery. Amazing experience, i would come back gladly.
It is difficult to decide which of the Monasteries is the best in the area of Bucovina.Voronet Monastery is included in the top three
The Voronet Monastery is one of the most important tourist attractions located in the town of Gura Humorului, Moldavia. This beautiful monasteryIt was declared World Heritage by UNESCO despite the construction suffered few alternations along the years. Tourist could see there many frescoes featuring an intense shade of blue commonly known as ‘Voronet blue.’ The composition of this unique paint continues to remain a mystery even now, more than 500 years after the church was built.
VISIT BUCOVINA-Traditions, history, peace of mind only in BUCOVINA-Romania).Here you find-Monastery Voronet,Putna,Sucevita,Arbore,Probota,Gura -Humorului
The only place in the world where you can find this specific nuance of blue, which is why it is called "Voroneț Blue"
This is an amazing piece of art in my opinion dating from 15 hundred. It has a distinctive blue on its frescoes known in Romania as "Voroneț blue." Is also well known as the Sistine chapel of the East. :). It is definitely worth seeing together with the other monasteries that are also UNESCO sites.
The most well-known painted Monastery in Moldova, also included in the UNESCO world heritage site.Unfortunately, the monastery is now surrounded by commercial constructions. A terrible sound around and lot of cars.
Voronet was the fifth and final monastery we saw on a BIG day. It is, according to many, perhaps the best of them, and I wouldn't dispute it - it has stayed in my memory while a couple of the others have rather blurred together...The monastery is best-known for the fresco of the Last Judgement, which takes up one end. The colours are fresh and beautiful, and it's an outstanding piece of work. The interior of the building - and its garden - are attractive, also.
This and other monasteries in the area are well worth a visit. They are aesthetically very beautiful and speak to a strong heritage that has resisted many invasions and era. As another reviewer notes, a dress code applies. We were told that all over Romania, monasteries are becoming more conservative in these matters.
Nice UNESCO monument ... pretty colors, nice location, nice architecture! Very accessible form the main road!Important historic attraction!
This is the beautiful monastery in Romania. They have the old picture on the wals. The place is beautiful and peacfull, and perfect for your heart,
An amazing place to visit with the restored paintings a delight to behold. The rich interior cannot be photographed but the gift store has good publications and cards to buy. Remember that a dress code applies.
One of the best preserved painted monastery, near Gura Humorului , in the middle of a village of different kind of accomodation, known for its beautiful blue background named the"Voronet Blue" . Between the parking and the monastery entrance a lot of shops selling a lot of local products, recommending "Trandafiri" (roses) confiture.
