This lovely setting has so much to offer that every one should be smiling after a visit to the Lake of Lugano. Surrounded as it almost is by breathtaking scenery no visit to the Tecine would be complete without sampling this delightful setting. From its long promenade to its delightful park at the eastern end, from its gloriously relaxing cruises to its fun filled boat hire, from its cafes to it elegant shops there really is something for everyone.
The town and lake front is beautiful but beware in Feb all the funiculars are not running so you can't get up Mount Bre etc.
Even in the early spring, the lake is beautiful, almost perfect! It is perhaps a little too cold to swim in though at that time of year...
Visited in February, Alps were snow capped & magical. About an hour by train from Milan. Stunning views, very enjoyable walk around lake from Civic gardens to ferry terminal. Town itself very picturesque, nice cafes & shops.
We went by car from Gravedona, Lake Como, to see lake Lugano and it was well worth it. Nice views and when arrived in Lugano we found a nice parking lot next to the promenada and we had a stroll around, a cake and coffee with beautiful views.
I have lived in Lugano and I believe its lake is one of the most beautiful lakes in Europe - along side nearby Lake Como and the Lake of Annecy (France). Lake Lugano is quite clean - for swimming, water skiing, wind surfing.
It is impossible to visit Lugano without seeing the lake. While possible to view from the car, don't miss the opportunity to walk along the waterfront. The walking path along Lake Lugano is amazing with breathtaking views of the gorgeous blue lake. (Yes, even in February)
We stopped in Lugano to get off a long train ride. WE felt very luck to have stopped. Lake Lugano is beautiful. Town is expensive and touristy
So we decided to go to Lugano. My sister has been and said it was nice, and she was right.Prices are high since it's in Switzerland, but everything else seems like your still in Italy. There is a nice lungolago or the stroll along the lake which is nice.It rained that day so the lake looked gloomy, but I guess when the sun is up that it is very beautiful:-) occasional ducks and swans pass you by too. It's picturesque really, with the mountains overlooking it.Worth a visit!
It is so peaceful. Beautiful and so quaint.the lake is pretty and the surrounding places are so photogenic! It's clean . interesting and it reminds me of my hometown.everthing is there!.take a train trolley ride tour through the town.so picturesque! The people are great and friendly and it's only 1 hr.from Milan and 4 hr.from Paris! A must visit! ♡
Lake Lugano is a Medium sized lake situated win arguably the most cosmopolitan city south of Switzerland. The water is very clear and the lake front is excellent for long walks. Boating facilities are available for people. There is a boat line to Gandria from a station called the SNL. Lake side connectivity is excellent via bus services. There are loads of high-end shops like LV, Prada, Gucci, etc in the market adorning the lake. Part of the lake itself is surrounded by a beautiful boulevard suitable for long walks / jogging. There are views of hills like Bre, Salvatore from the lake front. Also donot miss the beautiful white swans swimming in the lake.
First time to visit Switzerland and Lugano. Had heard that it should be breathtaking which I must admit that this place really is. Gorgeous landscape with the mountains and the lake. Especially when the sun is shining. Will be going for a run every time I'm coming there in the future. It cannot be beaten!
It was only my second visit and must admit ai find this area and the feeling special. Fantastic place to hang out and enjoy the scenery on a sunny day. There are not many places like this out there
Visiting Switzerland is like stepping into a postcard. So much fun to walk the alps, visit shops and take it all in. Pricy in all aspects, but it lives up to the image you have of visiting there.
