The visit of this place is probably one of the best things you can do in the area. Mainly because it gives you a proper idea of why the region became so famous for its textile and how this so small place developed around this former factory. Moreover the river next to it makes it nice and refreshing. In the museum you get to see how people use to work and live. It also includes a temporary exhibition and a cosy coffee (fika) spot.Definitely recommended if you are visiting the Marks kommun.
As in England, many weaving/spinning mills were to be found next to a river. This spinning factory complex stands on the River Viskas and is about 30 minutes from Gothenburg Landvetter airport in beautiful Swedish countryside. It's a spinning mill with a difference - or two: Firstly, it is still in working order. All the machinery still functions and demonstrations can be given of the equipment.Secondly, some of it also functions as an art gallery/exhibition hall and is currently holding (up to 27 April) an exhibition of the leading Scandinavian tapestry/textile artist Ragnhild Monsen. 42,000+ Students of A level Art and Design in 2007 studied her work as part of the syllabus. If you have an interest in early industrial revolution social/economic history or in modern textile art, you would find this a very interesting place to visit. The first ever electric light bulb in the history of Sweden was lit here in 1882! see video for art exhibition: https://vimeo.com/85025170
