Ecomuseum of the Seasonal Lakes of Pivka is a new museum. Its not a "traditional" museum, you are allowed to touch things, so you can feel them, smell them. It is a great interpretation of how Karst is built and how it works with its underground caves and waters. In the center of these presentations are of course the lakes. 17 intermittent lakes of Pivka, that keep disappearing. They show themselves when the underground is full of water, its quite interesting how this works. You can also see all the rare and endangered animals and plants, things that need to be protected for future generations.I recommend this eco-museum to all nature lovers, children will love it too as there are a lot of things that can draw their attention and they will learn a lot. After you learn about the nature and the lakes, you can go for a walk and see one or more of the lakes, it doesn't matter weather they are filled with water or if there's a carpet of flowers on the lake bed, the lakes are always interesting and always peaceful.
What a great place to learn about our environment. What better place than somewhere as vibrant and beautiful as Slovenia :)When you first walk in the Eco-Museum you get a real "homey" feeling, its warm and inviting. As you progress through the museum you learn about the plants, the animals, the locals and importantly so the beautiful Seasonal Lakes of Pivka and the level of care we must take so we do not damage this wonderful ecosystem. The tour guides are always smiling and eager to answer your questions.Once you visit the Eco-museum you can take what you have learnt and walk around the lakes yourself, or better yet, you can book a guided tour. Once you have done so, I would strongly recommend visiting one of the local Gostilna's (restaurants) and try some authentic food from the Carniola region. All in all, it is a very interesting museum with lovely tour guides, located in the heart of the seasonal lakes, surrounded by some of the most lively and wonderful forests bustling with life.
Telefonare
