Svatý Jan pod Skalou is very small village in Central Bohemia, at about 30 kilometres out of Prague. The dominant of thus village is a big rock and Church of St. John the Baptist just under it. There is an ancient history about hermit Ivan. You can visit his cave, it is a part of the church now. Also drink the powerful healing spring St. Ivan. It is tasty and very healthy. Lot of people in comming here with bottles for water. After the visit, walk up the rock above. It will take 25 minutes. You can meet many families with little kids to go up. But few parts are little bit difficult. At the top enjoy an amazing view to the countryside or down to village with church. Stay under the big cross, this you can see from the village, and relax, it is a fantastic place for this. You can eat in restaurant Hotel Obecná škola, only 200 metres away from the church. They have a good food and it is the only one option to eat in Svatý Jan pod Skalou. To come to this village is easy by car from Beroun. You can also walk from Beroun on the red tourist way, it is only 5 kilometres in the forrest. It is possible to come also on bicycle, but it is up and down enough. In this part of Central Bohemia, take your time to visit the castle Karlštejn, caves in Koněprusy, the town Beroun or the museum of mining in Chrustenice. Everything is maximally 10 kilometres out of Svatý Jan pod Skalou.
Небольшая симпатичная церквушка под склоном горы, рядом источник минеральной воды, считающейся святым. На гору идет крутой довольно крутой подъем, восхождение занимает примерно 30 минут. На вершине , рядом со скалистым обрывом расположен деревянный. Вид с высоты на деревню очень эффектный.
