She is known by the fact that there isn't any straight line and because it has the saint sudário, the blanket that covered Jesus Christ after his killing!
The church seems a very plain one at first sight , but then the visitor starts to see how its architecture follows precise , geometrical rules , unexpected and unusual
It is a beautiful small church with beautiful baroque interior. It contains a copy of the Shroud of Turin with some explanation of its history and science. Don't miss it!
It is a beautiful small cathedral which contains a copy of the Shroud of Turin with some explanation of the history and science of studying its relevance.
This is a stunning church with breathtakingly beautiful baroque interior. We enjoyed greatly our visit. Don't miss it!
Very beautiful church with loads of details, especially the offerings for miracles (either the drawings or the framed jewellery). A church worth visiting in Torino.
This church is nice to visit and there are free guided visits (in Italian) quite often. There's also a display about the Holy Shroud which can be found in another church in Turin.
An important piece of architecture. A jewel of its time. You need a good guidebook to understand its mathematical and theological ingenuity
The house of the copy of Holy Shroud. It is very unusual experience to stay upfront of this relic, even for us, not religion people.
We were passing by and saw that it was open so we decided to pop in......It turned out to be an amazing experience. It is absolutely stunning. On the right side of the church there is a room with a copy of the shroud. An Italian guide explained the shroud to us in detail and then guided us through the church. He was very informative, the information was very detailed and interesting. I don't know if they offer the guide in English for ours was in Italian. A very well done to this gentleman as he truly made our visit a memorable one.
We were glad we had been told about this church as it does not look like much at all from the outside. Once you enter however it is glorious, with a magnificent array of arches and alcoves filled with fabulous plasterwork, paintings and sculptures that culminate in a lovely dome. This is a much more impressive building than the city's Cathedral where you need to go if you are determined to see the famous Shroud of Turin.
This was on our route to the Cathedral and we very nearly didn't go in due to it looking so bland on the outside.Once inside it was truly beautiful though, with artwork and architecture to take your breathe away.I have to confess to being more impressed with this wonderful church than with the actual Cathedral we were heading to see.A very very worthy addition to your trip around Turin and one you won't be disappointed with.
Arriving by bus at the Piazza Castello, we made this the first visit of our day. It could not in any way be described as a hidden gem, but with a pretty unobtrusive entrance door at present hemmed in by restoration works, there is no notice of the building within. The Church itself is superb with very ornate plaster works and statuary plus a memorable ceiling. It is very well worth a visit, but beware, it is firmly on the coach and student circuit and try and get there early to enjoy the experience in relative peace. The church is particularly known for being the initial resting place for The Shroud and there are special exhibits relating to this period.
A beautiful little church that if you don't look closely you might miss it.. Located close to the palace. You'll also find a replica of the shred of torin.
The most interesting church in Turin because of its story, if you have a guide that make you see the magical corner of this church. It's really magical.
