Chalet Tovel Hotel. Wonderful lodging and food worthy of five stars. The owner could not have been more accommodating. The dinner was marvelous. The hotel was charming yet offered all possible amenities, including wifi. Rooms were modern with all the latest furnishings. The bathroom was especially impressive. We were there only one night as we were staying with relatives in Tuenno. We returned, however, for and the wonderful strudel..
Beautiful lake in a the beautiful sothern dolomites.Worth the trip!Do the hike around the lake. Well worth the walk!
Lago di Tovel is a serene fall experience after the hordes of July and August visitors are back to work. We made the 40 minute drive from Molveno in the fourth week of September. The drive up the crayon was traffic free and we parked near the lake. Trees were starting to change color and leaves were falling as we walked around the lake undisturbed we enjoyed the charm and beauty of the area. Afterwards we enjoyed lunch at the Refigio by the lake before returning home. I hear the crowds during the summer are large but the best time to visit is September when the crowds have disappeared and the air is crisp with the Fall season
I've been going to the Lake Tovel since I was a small child, and I always return. It's a beautiful hidden gem high up in the Alps, in the old days you could drive your car up there but now (as it's part of a National Park) you leave your car quite low and take a bus (quite convenient, as the road is very narrow and traffic used to be a problem). There are a couple of restaurants serving traditional cuisine as well as a simpler sandwich bar, all with outdoor seating and lovely views on the majestic peaks above.Lake Tovel can also serve as an excellent base point for several high mountain hikes, as it lies in the middle of a valley surrounded by high peaks on three sides. Very detailed trail maps are for sale locally, but beware that the high mountain trails can be dangerously exposed and are extremely strenuous - you must be fit and well equipped with proper mountain boots, warm clothing and water (no tourists in flip-flops please!).
An easy 40 mins walk around the lake, although recommend you wear walking boots. The water is crystal clear and I saw a brave sole going for a morning dip! Perfect picnic location
This lovely lake has a path around it that you can walk on, taking you around the entire circumference of the water. The surrounding forests are also lovely, there is plenty of shade, as well as glinting sunshine. It's a wonderful activity for an afternoon, and there are plenty of local as well as foreign tourists who come here for the leisurely walk and a picnic.Getting there entails taking a bus from the official parking lot, but you can also walk back, which would make it an hour's hike, and enable you to spend more time in this lovely natural environment.
this lake is a small gem! I highly recommend it for the views, the scenery. We were lucky enough to see it when the sun was shining, when rain was pouring and when it was cloudy. Amazing every time! The walk around it is good for everybody. Parking is not so close (and it's not free), but it's a good thing! great for a picnic. There are also some rifugi to have lunch.
It's one of the best places I ever visited. It's an enchanting lake, peaceful and wonderful
