Too few slopes :(. Had a feeling that this place is a little bit deserted. Bars at the mountain closed, no music..

I have heard that this is the highest road pass in Europe. I don't no if this is true but this is one of the most beatiful road in the world. I'll believe.

Beautiful view, wild mountains, sober way but for us with small children is not a good choice.Adventure was like in the movies. The views are amazing.

Must take the tram and go to the glacier!Summer skiing - also for those that don't bring the skis and boots (quality rentals available both at Stelvio Pass and in Bormio)

the stelvio pass is one every biker should do , have done it now around a dozen times and it never ever fails to deliver . best done on a lazy v twin will leave the sports bikes wondering how you ever got round those tight hairpins !!! 48 of them on the Austrian side just put the bike in a low gear and power out on the way up (not enough lock on most sports bikes ), on the way down just let the engine do the braking . make sure you eat before going up the food at the top is so expensive .be aware that even in late may that you may encounter snow !!! what a place and a bikers dream with bikes from all over Europe there just watch out for the pushbikes

If you like skiing this is the place to be! Great views and wonderful slopes. I love it. The area is nice also for finding good food.

Our trip to the stelvio pass was just perfect we organized ourselfes to get to the stelvio after work (Luxemburg-Lichtenstein-Stelvio and back through Austria) We arrived at the stelvio in late morning. Everything about the syelvio pass was just beautigull starting with the cars, motorcycles and the occasional tractor, than you'll make new acuaintances follwed by the breath taking view over the whole Pass and the fun to go down the road. We did it 3 times just for the fun of it.This is one place on earth which should be on everybodys bucketlist

I planned this motor cycle trip to the stelvio pass from last year. I remember watching the top gear motoring programme where they said it was the "best driving road in the world". They was lucky to have four wheel super cars but to be honest even a push bike would of been epic. The Road has so many turns, you climb into the clouds and every where you look is a picture. I still have vivid pictures in my mind and remember the experience. If you have this as a to do or its on your bucket list. Then read the reviews to help. I could not find any thing bad only that the road is some times closed at certain times of the year. We arrived in June of 2013. There was still snow at the top of the mountain but it was open all the way through if we had wanted to travel the whole road. We started from the Italian side and rode up for a couple of hours. Then turned around and came back down. We took pictures at a few places from the side of the road. There are buildings on the way but would suggest you eat or drink before you drive up. On one of the straight pieces of road on the mountain a beaver ran out in front of me. It was tiring turning from one turn to the next with my Ducati 916. A smaller lighter motor cycle would have been better. I also would have liked to have travelled up in a soft top car or by push bike. Travelling slower to take in the sights. The road is quite small in places and the turns are very tight so travel carefully while you are in awe of your surroundings. I hope its a experience as good as mine. When people ask me I put the stelvio pass in one of the seven wonders of the world. I do like cars and bikes and have several blogs so do enjoy travelling on two or four wheels. We filled up with petrol before the ascent and had a coffee and a meal on the way back down. There seems to be lots of places before the road to try. When we stopped at the cafe there was plenty of friendly bikers to talk to. I organised this holiday for six of us on motor cycles. We made a base in bella Italia camp site in Lake Garda. I have reviewed it before if you look at my profile. For bikers it is not ideal in that we had to walk from the car park to our accommodation. This was quite a way on hot days, carrying all our motor cycle gear, helmets, gloves, luggage. The motor bikes had to stay at the site entrance which is secure as near security guards present all night. If you do travel from Lake Garda then allow time for the journey there and back. We also traveled over some lovely mountains and had lunch on the way to the stelvio. This was a great experience in itself. From bella Italia camp site on the 8 days we spent there we went to the moto gp race at Mugello race track, The stelvio pass, Local restaurants, a Tour around Lake Garda. There is lots to do around the north of Italy with the Motor cycle and car factories near by. The Moto Guzzi museum was an enjoyable experience.Let me know if the review helped you or if there was some thing else that i should have added.

Stelvio has an image and reputation of being the ultimate road. I was not disappointed at all, at least not on a motorcycle. It was MORE than I could have imagined and there is a reason this road is on so many 'Bucket Lists'. The road was dry, the sky was blue and the traffic was light on the weekday I rode a rented BMW K1300S up and down the Pass. I wanted to love this road, and I did. And do. This is the most attainable, accesible road that the average rider can actually get to. Two or three days from Munich and you're there. You can read about some guy in a $150K Porsche saying its crap and that there is a road in Tanzania that is much better. Bully for the ultra rich dudes. This is THE road for anyone. I watch my GoPro video often and dream of going back. And there is a guy at the top selling sausage sandwiches that will make you laugh. Best lunch of my life...best ride of my life.

A wonderful climb on a bike. It took just under 2 hours and I was glad I was using a 34-29 gear ratio. Niceish views from the top but better looking down at the switchbacks a few kms from the top on the Bormio side.

As a biker, i'm sure this road is great (on a sports bike). On my Rocket however, when it's raining, it's terrible. I guess it was just unfortunate that it was raining on us when we were there so i couldn't enjoy the road, and i was too busy concentrating on not crashing to enjoy the scenery, but my Mrs assures me the views of the Alps were amazing. I'd go again for sure - but not on my Rocket

The views are amazing, but only do it if you're a confident driver! Lots of motorbikes and some crazy guys in vans. Like us.

Relentless uphill, many bends, spectacular views and exhilarating descent into Bormio. Busier than expected with motorcycles.

Very moody- clouds and fog move in and out in moments. Gets steeper towards the summit. Beware of altitude.

Yes it is a must do, especially on a motorcycle. But it's not worth all the hype. Its too tight the road surface is crap, the local drivers are homicidal and buses spoil it for everyone.Do it because it's there but dont expect a brilliant ride. Expect a frustrating and gruelling challenge. The views are pretty good though.
