I had been on this attraction on a previous trip to Boppard but never had reviewed it so a repeat trip was on the cards. We took the short walk along the riverside / paid the money and set off on the overhead chairs a la ski lift (about 15 minutes ) with increasingly good views of the surrounding area. Once at the top a walk to the restaurant for a coffee or whatever drink takes your fancy , even a snack or full meal depending on arrival time. There are many activities to choose once at the summit - many walking trails- mountain bike tracks and even if equiped hang gliding. This makes a nice half or full day diversion depending on your reqirements.
The ride up the mountain was great and the view from the top spectacular. At 4:00 PM we were enjoying hot chocolate at a café overlooking the Rhine when the server announced that the chairlift employees had gone home and the lift was no longer running. As the sign at the entrance to the lift said the last ride would be at 5:30 PM, we were disappointed. We joined other angry persons on an hour- long trek down the steep and rocky mountain. Most were unprepared for this hike; one lady even had boots with heels. I complained to the ticket-booth employee when I reached bottom. She said it wasn't her fault, the lift was kaput, and these problems arose frequently. I think the lift employees had knocked off early to join the wine festival starting that afternoon. In any event, be prepared to walk down.
Gliding on a chair in company with the amazing views of Rhine valley and breathing the dazzling fragrance of the Boppard woods beneath. This unique experience is only for 6 euros! You'd never want it should end.Free parking is available at the starting point. Once you have got your tickets, proceed to the gate to take your chair with the help of a guide (in German discipline); wait to be seated! Then your journey starts in the heaven. Once you have got off the chairs, follow the signs to the right where you will find a place named GedeonsEck, a cafe/restaurant. Take a table near the fence and order whatever you like in the menu to have your most memorable dish ever enjoying the most beautiful scenery in the world. I promise.
A great experience. The view of the vineyards, the Rhine and the town of Boppard were amazing going up and down and good to see everyting from a different perspective. The weather was sunny on our trip. We didn't get off at the top as we didn't have much time. Saw some lads going up with their mountain bikes and expect they had great fun coming down.
Openair chairlift for two with spectacular views over Boppard and the Rhine river bend to the summit; excellent value at €7 return (adult). Ate Lunch in summit restaurant 'GedeonsEck' huge meals, great value. If you haven't the "head for height's" walk up! Excellent views from the chairlift and summit. A pleasant afternoon spent watching everything below, especially with a dry white wine!
Two people per car, great for children- school trips, families etc. A few cafe's and play parks at the top too, so its not just a cable car!
This is a ski lift type of cable car so does sway in the wind. From the ground it does not look too far but that is only about 50% of the actual length. It takes about 20 minutes to get to the top. The second part going up is where the wind hits most. At the top you can walk 200m for views of the "bendiest bend on the Rhine" It was worth doing but a calmer day would have made it even better.
Went on the chair lift when I was younger with a school trip (like 2005 or something!). Loved the views, wish I could do it again so I can appreciate it a bit more.Great for people who want amazing views of the Rhine and a unique experience.
I would totally recommend this attraction when visiting Boppard as it REALLY is a GREAT thing to do , not only is it Great fun But you get the most AMAZING view's over the Rhine ! theres 2 of you in the chair and you feel very safe not at all scary , and it's goes at. a lovely steady pace and it's soooooo peaceful along the way there's a nice cafe at the top with unrivaled views the journey down is just as good as the journey up !please give it a go you won't be disappointed
This is a must do if you are in the area, particularly when the weather is nice. It's a 2 person chairlift up to the top. Peaceful, serene, beautiful. There is a nice restaurant at the top again offering incredible views. Well worth it.
We visited in late March before the lift was open for the season. It was a beautiful day, so we decided to hike up to Vierseenblick. As 60 somethings in OK shape, we found it a bit of a challenge but doable. Taking it easy, the round trip was about about 2 1/2 hours including the time on the top enjoying the view and a cold beer.
We were lucky that the weather was perfect. It was not very busy and we had a pleasant chat with the lady at the ticket office before the trip up. It is in a lovely area and you get fantastic views of the town and of course the Rhein as it winds its way along. There are also Castles that can be seen in good detail. We saw quite a few bicycles going up, and then the riders taking the trip down by cycle path. The was also a photographer snapping you near the top. It is clean, efficiently run, with help at each end, and all equipment seemed in good condition. Well worth the fare. The restaurant at the top is great with spectacular views.
I loved the views this chairlift offered. It's a great way the see the meandering Rhein. I also love that you can take your bikes up on it to go to the bike park located at the top.
This is an excellent activity whilst in Boppard. Walk to the chair lift and then pay for a one way ticket. The chair lift has been around for 50 years and runs smoothly and efficiently. The ride is excellent with stunning views of the Rhine and the slow curve in the river. Its a good trip to do at anytime but the lift closes at 18.00 hrsOnce you get to the top there are a variety of easy walking trails. We did the 5 kms circular walk which was very well marked and this takes you stunning forests and glades, some small uphills stretches but continually interesting views capes of the Rhine and the surrounding valleys. We took the walking route back down to Boppard which was 3.5 ams and an easy walk. This is an easy walking route and only there very unfit would be pressed. There are some cool restaurants at the top near the chair lift and a cool place to just chip out. Go and enjoy
