I've been loving this little zoo ever since I was a kid. It's inexpensive so once in a while some friends and I will go for a stroll through the park even now.. as grownups. Kid friendly, nice petting and feeding area, good food and overall really nice park.
We visited the Christmas Market in Aachen, a very beautiful City approximately 15Kls over the border into Germany near Valkenburg in the Netherlands, which is down south near Maastricht. We arrived early when the Christmas market had just opened at 12 o'clock, we found a carpark very conveniently around the corner & at a very reasonable cost also.I had heard so much about the German Christmas markets & we were not disappointed! They were full of wonderful Christmas goodies / food stalls / rides for the Grandchildren on the Carousel & a great band playing in the square with a backdrop of a very beautiful building with carved figures & the Church also there, so we found it hard deciding what to buy to get into our cases on the way back to Australia! We enjoyed about 2 &1/2 hours there before it became very crowded being the last day of the market & our 2 little girls had seen enough. So we then headed back to our Hotel outside Valkenburg to enjoy a rest.Definately worth a visit as its a lovely city with a great atmosphere in the market & seeing everybody enjoying the good life with a wonderful true feeling of what Christmas is really about, so glad we finally made it there,
Need to kill some time in Aachen? This place is great - lots to see, animals all in good condition and very accommodating staff. Visited spring 2014, and cost just 6 Euros for Adults to get in - complete bargain! Only downside was the very limited range of giftware, but don't hold that against it!
Situated quite close to railway station, cheap and amazing place specially for kids. Good enough to spend 2-3 hours walking around.
The most recent visit I did together with my 4 year old in early December. It's definitely more fun in summer time. Aachen Tierpark is not as spectacular as some others Zoos when it comes to predators but it's nice and also not that big. You can easily do a round in 1 1/2 hours. The zoo is in my opinion very kids friendly, every now and then a playground, you can purchase animal food to let your kids feed the animals. In some stables it's allowed to go in and pet the animals. Usually the compounds are designed that you can see the animals from close and not like in some other zoos seeing them just from far distance. Good place to spend some time with your kids :)
Went with three small kids who all got a lot out of this visit on their own level. Cheap to get in, 6 Euro, open all year round. Large, wooded, hilly well kept enclosures, good cross section of animals, some domestic ones, that can be fed and stroked. A window into an incubating box, kids see chicks popping out of the egg. Yes, signs in German and Latin, after all, you are in Germany. Bring a dictionary, if you need to translate. Loads of imaginatively structured playgrounds for all ages along the paths, so kids get a run around if tired to learn. Great fun also a real digger kids' size to operate and move gravel for 1 Euro. Food to buy or eat at picnic places, everybody had a great day. Thoroughly recommended. Google it for pictures and more info.
Something typical german for making al the sign's only in German. It's cheap butt they don't got any real predator's. Although they have a couple of playground's for childeren. suitable for a family. This is also due to the low price of admission
It's really a nice place to bring young kids. It's very clean and educating.Possibility of petting some animals.
We have been visitingthis small zoo couple of times over the last three year and every time we had a pleasant feeling when we let, well maintaned park which is Always improving the housing of the animals; The animals are all in good shape, superb to see in this green environment about 3 km from the aachen city centre.
A small but nice zoo. Many accommodations are very modern and for the animals there is plenty of space. For other animals (especially birds) it is a bit old-fashioned. The zoo offers a broad picture, with all kinds of exotic animals, but also a petting zoo with goats, chickens, cows and many other animals. You can walk between the goats and other animals are also easily accessible. Recommended are the Lynx (try to find them in their huge residence) and the Penguin stay. For a small price, you can enjoy a few hours here. The downside is that there are too few parking places right outside the door, which sometimes means a short walk.
This is a very small zoo in Aachen, near the new shopping Centre Rothe Erde. They don't have the usual animals, but have some special animals all the same like Helmcasuaris (they really look like Dinosaurs to me) and their Penguins really have a great environment. It's not expensive either, so I think this is a great afternoon for children!
My kids 8 & 10 loved the zoo. No big animals, i.e. lions, tigers but many others to see. There are also many playgrounds.
