... But not more. I personally enjoy the forests in the surrounding of kleve. The forstgarten is nice but not extremely special.
The ' Royal Zoo ', which past 1742 served as spa park, was enlarged in 1782 by the construction of the South-Eastern Forstgarten, a botanical garden in arboretum-style with 150 different exotic trees, all of this under command of Chairman Julius Ernst von Buggenhagen, president of the Prussian-Kleve Government. The site presents itself -after changes by the landscape architect Maximilian Friedrich Weyhe- on an area of 5.6 hectares as forest. Near the former "Zoo" was the grave located in which Prince Johann Moritz in Bergendael (Berg und Tal) was buried but soon after was transferred to Siegen. The amphitheater and Forstgarten were in 2004 added to the "Straße der Gartenkunst zwischen Rhein und Maas".
Der Forstgarten ist ein sehr idyllischer Park am Rande der barocken Gartenanlage. Die verschlungenen Wege führen an teils sehr alten, beschilderten Bäumen vorbei, Wasserläufe und kleine Seen vervollständigen das Bild. Ein schöner Ort der Ruhe!
Das ist ein schöner Fleck in Kleve. Da gibt es noch ruhe und Natur . Man kann sehr gut spazieren gehen und ab und an gibt es dort auch Konzerte. Auch der Klever Weihnachtsmarkt im forstgarten ist sehr schön und gemütlich. Ich liebe diesen Ort :)
