Really good visit with the family. Well hidden oasis -worth the visit. Reasonably priced.Little cafe in the middle -great for icecream stop. You can park both at top or at the bottom of the Valley. It takes some walking and not so suitable for pushchairs. We walked only half of it - but had really good time. Next to it -free museum -again great feature.
This valley is like nothing else on Rhodes. Lush surroundings and MANY butterflies. Be sure to take a very close look on the trees around you, since most of the butterflies sit very still.
Kind of a little forest with thousands of butterflies; only one kind of butterfly tough. For nature enthous only. A bit hard to find. Gotta have a car to go there.
very nice walk with tons of butterflies!! I recommend not to take the train, going up is very nice, going down takes 5 min!! the only problem is transportation to and from.
We visited on the last day of our 2 week holiday, just to get away from the baking 40 degree heat of the beaches for a change and go and experience something different in Rhodes, and we were glad we did.It was a long drive over from Lindos (about an hour), but the drive up through the mountains to get there was very scenic. There are 3 car parks, with a short walk from all of them when you arrive. You pay for the attraction (5 EUR each for 12 and over, I think), and then an additional 4 EUR if you want to take the 'train' (road train) up to the monastery at the top of the valley. We took this option and were glad that we did on a hot day, to avoid the 1.5km steep climb up through the valley, then back down again. There are fantastic views from the monastery. We visited at the right time of year (Jul/Aug) and saw thousands and thousands of tiger moths - they were literally everywhere, and clinging to every exposed surface of shaded rock. The walk through the valley itself is also quite pleasant, with water cascading through the valley at the side of you, and a shady canopy overhead. At the bottom is the usual souvenir shop, and a small cafe where you can have a drink sat in the pleasant surroundings of the valley. The valley goes on further down the hillside, but after a couple of hours we had seen enough so didn't go any further. Not the cheapest couple of hours (30 EUR for us), but we all enjoyed it, and feel like we have seen something else that Rhodes has to offer. A pleasant distraction from the beaches, and the other hot, sunny attractions.
Nothing to say. It is not a "must". Just go there if you have time. PAROS IS VERY BEATIFULL and lots of better things to do there
We tried to visit the valley of butterflies. It is a private garden and you have to pay.In May 2014 it was still closed. It is a difficult to get there. It would be better there was a sign at the turnover.
It was worth seeing for me as I just love butterflies ! Went there in October 2008 and I still remember it like yesterday. Unless you're a fan a good hour is sufficient.
Butterflie Valley was near our hotel called : Fragoulis Village . The valley was very nice and the butterflies beautiful! Greece <3
We drove up to the butterfly valley but closed for the season. No sign posted at the turnoff. We did see one butterfly outside the gate though
The private Butterfly reserve and garden is a lovely and quaint surprise - cool and magic. Its a nice excursion to break the heat and see a spot that is green and wet!
We go at the end of October and unfortunately it was the end of butterflies :(However the small garden with the beautiful lake was very very niceI think it with to give some euro for the entrance
With 2 euro entrance / person is not very necessary for you to visit the butterflies. The park is very small, it has only one variety of butterfly which is mostly standing still on the leaves. If you have nothing else to do and you have a car or a bike you can go, you will see nothing interesting but you will have an opinion in person. If you don't, do not get sad because you lose nothing. Keep your money for Rhodes butterfly valley!
The place is nice but nothing special !They have just one type of butterfly black and yellow that sleep during the day !They have nice lemon tree :) with many big lemons! The fee entrance is 2 euro !Is not the best atraction but if you have time go and see !Is just maximum half hour the tour !
Amazing butterflies were everywhere. Note that these butterflies are nocturnal so during the day they are sleeping. However look carefully and you will see hundreds everywhere. This is not a long walk. Its is €2 to enter and if you look at the butterflies it will take you half an hour to walk around. Other visitors walked around in under 10 minutes and I can't believe that they saw anything. I have photographs with hundreds of butterflies and if you look closely you can also see plenty of crickets - just follow the noise.
