schöckl seilbahn

The Schoekl mountain is very beautiful, you can either hike up or take the cable car. In summer there are cows walking around with their bells on, a nice sight for tourists, and in winter when you look out from the top of the mountain you are often above the clouds and it looks magical. Very beautiful.

after climbing the castle at Reigersburg, I wasn't sure what this climb would be. with that in mind, I wasn't there for the view. the journey was the event. everything else was icing on the cake. whether you take the cable car or trek on foot, this mountain has something to offer everyone. majestic? yes. adventurous? sure. check out the website because there is much to do. as we descended in late afternoon, the sky was filled with para sailors. the people is spent my time with made the day. the schöckl was an awesome place to be.

I went to the Schöckl mountain with bus 250 from Graz, Jakominiplatz. The journey takes around 35 minutes. During my visit there were few people and some cows at the top :) It offers good view of surroundings, also the city of Graz is visible in the distance.

We visited Schockl on a slightly hazy day, but it was obvious that very nice views could be had from some vantage points if the weather was clear. We also had lunch at one of the two restaurants at the top of the mountain. Taking lunch on an outside terrace on a mountain top is certainly a refreshing experience.The downside for me was the herds of grazing cows we encountered while at the top of the mountian. Watching out to avoid stepping in cow dung and swatting away the flies that it attracts is not part of an alpine environment. I'm originally from Canada and know that cows do not belong on mountains!I can't help but wonder what wildlife that is actually native to the alpine habitat might have been in evidence were it not for the cows and their clanging bells.Were it not for the cows, I would not hesitate to give this attraction a "Very Good" rating in spite of the haze on the day we visited.

The 2 days we were in Graz was rain filled. Yet we ventured to Schockl and it didn't disappoint. We were probably the only ones there. It was asif they were open exclusively for us! We went to this cafe up top where the staff was superb. Beautiful and very friendly. The french fries there were thick cut and good to taste but what stole my heart was the chocolate cake. Best. Cake. Ever! The view was magnificent as well and they had a toboggan run downhill which was sadly closed due to the rains so I missed that one. Overall I'd love to go back in the summer when the sun is shining to fully appreciate Schockl. Do visit when in Graz.

Bahn Tiefreundlich und trotz des großen Andranges schnell und zuvorkommend! Bitte nicht in das "s Wirtshaus am Schöckl" gleich neben Bahngebäude gehen! Extrem überfordert und unfreundlich! Wirt raucht lieber als das er Gäste bedient! Schnitzel ZÄH und trocken! Auf Kinder wird nicht Rücksicht genommen! Nie wieder! Gesamtwartezeit 1,8 Stunden!!!!! Nur für ein Mittagessen....Der Hexenexpress(Rodelbahn) zu empfehlen!Die Seilbahn kann nix für den schlechten Wirt!!!? Trübt den Gesamteindruck!

Mit der Seilbahn erreicht man in nur 7 Minuten den Gipfel vom Schöckl. Man kann auch das Rad mitnehmen! Wir hatten eigntl vor den 1,5h fußmarsch herunterzuwandern, sind aber oben auf frisbeegolf aufmerksam geworden und das war ein heidenspaß! War es wirklich wert!

Man kann mit dem Postbus von Graz aus bis zur Talstation nach St. Radegund fahren und von da mit der Seilban bis auf den Schöckel. Für Wanderer ist allerdings die Semriacherseite über den Jägersteig eine Pflichtwanderung und vom Gipfel kann man dann mit der Seilbahn ins Tal und weiter nach Graz fahren. Das ist ein schöner Tagesausflug

Am Fusse des Schöckls - oberhalb von St. Radegund ist die Talstation der Schöklbahn. Ausreichend Parkplätze, z.T. überdacht stehen gratis zur Verfügung. Die Bahn bring einen barrierefrei ganz nach oben auf den Schöckl. von den verglasten Gondeln hat man einen wunderschönen Rundumblick bis zur Koralpe und die Südsteiermark und Richtung Plattensee. Oben auf dem Schöckl ist das Stubenberghaus unser Favorit - die Terrasse mit Weitblick ist immer einen Besuch wert. Nastürlich auch der Kaiserschmarrn!

Der Schöckel ist der sogenannte Hausberg der Grazer, der besonders bei schönem Wetter (rund ums Jahr) en beliebtes Ausflugsziel darstellt. Um die Spitze des Schöckels zu erreichen gibt es im Grunde genommen3 Varianten:1. zu Fuss von der Talstation aus (gerade aus über die Lifttrasse)2. zu Fuss ab Halber Höhe (dort gibt es noch Parkplätze)3. die bequemste Art den Berg zu erklimmen- mittels der Schöckel Seilbahn. Die Fahrt dauert rund 15 Minuten und bieten einen wunderschönen Ausblick- zum Spazieren hat man am Gipfel angekommen noh immer genügend Möglichkeiten. Der Preis für eine Fahrt (Hinauf und wieder zurück) beläuft sich auf rund 25 Euro.
