Interesting to see..but compared to bergama, it's less impressive..few structures and columns were saved from its original construction..

Charming place... very attractive.. I was astonished by the ruins. incredible view that takes you to the past. Around the temple there are a lot of and nice restaurants and shopping places. Don't forget to drink the local teas and drinks such as adaçayı (sage tea) , linden tea etc. some fruit juices special to the area.

Walking at the same path with Aristothales. Watching great views of Edremit Bay together with Lesbos. And unforgettable sunset! Take a bottle of wine with you if you can make it to the sunset!

Staying in Assos gave u a chance to explore the local area including the temple of Athena we ere after hours so couldnt access the site how ever circumnavugated the peripehry as it is all over the hill near where we stayed .just amazing to have this history all around the section of roman road we saw wasone of the most solid and intact we have seen to date .we also saw from the village hill top all the archeologisist arriving at dawnnto bgin their arduous task of unearthing the remains of tha past civilization.

There's not much to see at the top of the hill, but walk down to see the necropolis and theater. They are in an unrestored state.

The site is very close to Kucukkuyu. So, if you are nearby make sure to visit this site, as it's worth it! There is no entrance fee to visit it - still not the entire site can be visited. During summer time it's hot, so it's good to have a hat with you. It takes about an hour to visit it all. If you have extra time, you can also go down the road to the shore and enjoy a good ice cream or a nice meal.

You can walk around this place in 20mins, and there is not much to left to see other than some columns of the temple. However the views are very nice. Especially during sunset. This open air museum has small entrance fee unless you have museum card.After visiting this place, if you drive towards old port, you will see an amphitheather on your left, definitely stop by and visit the place.

No need to brush up on your ancient history for this one. A hot and steep climb but well worth the sweat. Magnificent panorama, unbelievable sunset, steeped in history and the ruins as a backdrop! But not to be recommended at midday in the summer months; best time would be sunset. This is where St.Paul embarked on his way to Lesbos on his third missionary journey. Aristotle lived here for some time during the reign of Hermias who was his father-in-law and who ruled according to principles of Plato's ideal city state. Try local fresh made (flatbread) gözleme at Panorama Cafe on your walk back down.

This enchanting place is one of the most memorable we visited during our two-week tour of Turkey. The food is among the freshest and tastiest that we had in Turkey; the hotel rooms delightful; and the people genuinely down-to-earth. It is often the case that in long-haul trips, one needs to take a breath at some point to just sit back and relax - Assos is exactly that place, and we'd recommend it as a spot not to be missed on any itinerary to Turkey. A hidden gem where you can feel truly relaxed!

Not much to see of the temple, but the view of the Aegean Sea is incredible. Wear walking shoes and be prepared for the wind, it is quite breezy up top.

The temple sits on the west side of the highest point of Assos. The 20Lira seems a little steep considering the immense ruins of the old city are free to explore - and dwarf those in Troy in both size and quality. If you are a little adventurous and creative, you can find a way in after hours to enjoy the place in complete serenity...I followed a local ,-).....

Assos is a quiet historical place close to Canakkale. A nice place by the sea, a beautiful sea, small hotels and restaurants serving great sea food. The ancient city and remainders are still visible within the museum where you can see the Athena temple, agora, gymnasium and many more. Ancient harbour is my favourite due its compact formation by the sea. Swimming there clears the dust from your visit of the museum. You must try the sea food with some beer in any of the restaurants which have very reasonable price and suitable for kids as well. Assos is 6 hours drive to Istanbul as well, so could be a good short trip from Istanbul should you like to escape from the big city for a few days. Also ancient kingdom of Troy is near by to visit what remains, remembering the scenes from the famous movie. By far the best holiday destination for any one who does not want to travel long distances and interested in history as well as nice sea food and swimming.

It was a nice visite not far from Assos, good time spent overthere. If you are around do not hesitate to visite.

This is one of the best Greek temples. The excavations were still continuing. The area is windy and rugged and one must be careful, it is easy to slip and fall.There is a replica of the original temple as close to he original and it is awesome.The view of the beach down is spectacular. It is a great place to take pictures and admire history.On the way down make sure to check the village vendors selling stuff. I loved homemade olive oil soaps.
