One of the biggest and well designed theaters in Russia. Great staff and very gifted ballet and opera soloists. We were impressed with Giselle Ballet. Nice decorations. Excellent performance by all involved. The theatre was almost full. Very good acoustics and views from parter. Highly recommended for anyone in love with traditional Russian ballet. Good value for money.
One of the must-visit places in Novosibirsk. The theatre is the biggest opera house in Russia built in 1945. The interior is awesome. Ballet performances will impress you greatly.
This theatre is one of the biggest of its kind, impressive from the outside and beautiful on the inside, You can get a good view of the stage from almost anywhere in the theatre and the acoustics are great, all around the huge chandelier in the middle of the ceiling are statues of greek gods. I have been many times and enjoyed the experience greatly
Although we weren't able to see a performance of the ballet or the opera, our Trans-Siberian Railroad tour group was able to listen to the orchestra practice, go backstage and see the ballet dancers in rehearsal, and linger outside in the beautiful square banked by other lovely buildings and statues.
We have visited this theater with cousin and her husband. Performance was good and place was impressive.
I have been to see The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, La Boheme, and Carmen. All of these performances were excellent. The theater itself is lovely, inside and out. Staging is always well done, and the music is beautiful. Ticket prices to see these performances are amazingly very low.
In mid June, I attended a concert featuring a celloist from Holland. The orchestra is of high professionally standard. If you have time, please do consider to spend a night there. The entire ground floor is for audience placing their overcoat, full capacity is around 2,500.
We were fortunate enough to be in Novosibirsk for a performance of the opera "Prince Igor." With a fabulous score, excellent orchestra, outstanding singing, beautiful costumes, exciting choreography, and a great setting this was a world class evening of entertainment.
I have been in many many opera theaters in the world, but the Novosibirsk State Opera and Ballet Theatre is something special. It has a very special atmosphere of high culture, it almost lost elsewhere. There is little of bisness, but much of a soul.Voices for soloists are amazing, stage decorations are amazing and ballet dancers are from another world :-)It is almost unbelievable that in the midst of Siberia there are such miracle.I can recommend it strongly, that is certainly worth the visit!!
We saw Figaro in Novosibirsk during a trip on the Golden Eagle on the Trans-Siberian Railway. The theatre looked magical in the snow, and the performance was very well done. The auditorium is huge with comfortable seats and has a small bar for drinks and snacks during the interval. A rather surreal but enjoyable evening!
You expect, this theater will satisfy you. You can make a reservation at online site.
This theater - is my motherland, because 50 years ago my father have get a flat( single room) in the Opera House and I have visited it from my childhood. What can I say about the modern state of the theater? It is not so beautiful as in 1970-1980-s , but good enough for those who love siberian ballet, especially traditional performance.Helas, after renovating the museum of the theater disappeared, decorations are modest and our primas have not such technics as Gershunova, Balabanov, Berdyshev, Kaydanee. But Siberian Bolshoy often organises festival with Lopatkina, Vishneva,Vasiliev. So welcome!
Everyone in our group loved this experience even the ones who thought they may not! A modern and then a traditional performance. Very atmospheric. A stunning building, both inside and out and much to admire and absorb. Found the people of Siberia very welcoming.
The theatre is one of a kind with beautiful lighting effects and a master piece of architectural work.I love the arrangements of the seats on a slant incline. The "Swan Ballet" is a must watch for any one.
It is excellent theater, very beatiful both interior and exterior. I do recommend come for an hour before entertainment start and walk around the square. Do some photo of the frontage. Pillars are excellent! During vegetation period there are a lot of colorfull flowers in the square. After you come in walk on the main steps before huge mirrors and you are up in the main hall, with buffets, photos, carpets and so on. Walk around from bust of Tchaikovsky to bust of Musorgsky and look at exhibition devoted to the story of the Theatre. Now come in to the parter in order to look around this enormous hall with rows of apmphitheatre (from first to third), wonderful chanderlier, red carpets and many other things. I recommend also to climb up to third row of amphitheatre in order to put your eyes on the general view of this wonderful hall and orchestra pit. Finally about entertainments there - in my opinion the ballet is on the very top of the world! Opera is not so high, but also not so bad.
