really nice and paved, lots of activity, biking, skating, walking, swimming, surfing, etc...lots of people during the summer, good security with carabineros patrolling a lot.
The beach and the water are dirty: cigarette butts, plastic bags, forks, spoons and other plastic items etc. everywhere, also wrapping around arms and legs when swimming. Incredibly crowded, kids and dogs running around stepping on the towels and whirling up sand all the time. A lot of beach vendors walking up and down selling food and drinks, calling out non-stop very loudly what they offer.
The attached photos say it all. This is a big, beautiful and lively beach in a scenic setting. The perfect place to enjoy a relaxing day with the family, and close to the amenities of the old town behind it.
Day or night there is plenty to do here. It's a beautiful, long beach with boardwalk right in the heart of Iquique. The waves are more gentle here than the other beach in town. There are plenty of restaurants, and stands & beach vendors to get food & drinks. There are plenty of things going on (we were there for the weekend) for the whole family to enjoy all day long!
We spent a very pleasant afternoon lounging in the sun on this wide beach. We rented an umbrella and lounger and were very comfortable. There were hawkers selling drinks and food but they were not aggressive, just available if required. Loads of space and very pleasant.
A bit more sheltered so warmer water and less wild waves - better for swimming. The northern edge has a shell beach. The southern end adjoins the Casino.
This is a long beach that becomes very crowded with sunbathers / families. Cavancha is the safest option for swimming but still has a sizable shore break at times. Equipment rental and food are available.
excellent place to enjoy the charm of the sea, sun and white sand good, I personally like the month of March
In General, I am not a huge beach person, but I happily spent an entire day here. The street vendors are endless, selling everything from ceviche to baked goods, fruit salad to homemade potato chips. The waves are big and the water is cold, but this is Chile, and it is expected. I would highly recommend spending at least a few hours here.
Great beach - big, clean and beautiful. Don't worry about food too much as there's always a vendor wandering by with freshly baked goods, ceviche, beers etc. Do be careful of sea though - despite the lifeguards, it gets deep quickly and the waves are big!!
Pleasant beach, great for sun bathing. It's the only beach that is suitable and safe for swimming or surfing.
best beach at chile, the place is peacefull and sunny, for sure a great experience if you pass by, also you can do surfing and bodyboarding just at 2 steps, also really near the downtown , cold refreshing water for that hot days, great!! for sure a stop at chile.
As an Aussie traveling it is hard to rate other countries beaches. I did love all the large Sealions swimming around.
It is a nice walk by the beach, plenty of attractions for kids, including a small llamas’ zoo and beautiful sunsets.
just super nice and warm water and a lot of bikinis all year arround, also winter
