如果你对工程感兴趣,那么你会爱上这次旅行。三峡大坝是一个奇迹,这次技术之旅可以进到大坝内部去,参观涡轮机和控制室,值得一见。

周末八点开始的灯光表演,连带观光巴士游大概是一个小时。坐在巴士上看不到太多,灯光表演又只持续几分钟,虎头蛇尾的。如果你没有自己租车,而是坐巴士,要到大坝那儿的时间会拖得特别长。要14R,真的一点都不值。那晚还不如待在酒店呢。

我在最近才听说这个中国新修建的大巴,而且这是世界上最大的人工发电厂。在大巴上看着此大坝的介绍短片,我感觉非常的震撼。这个大坝非常之大,其目的是为了当地的环境保护和可持续发展吧。比如这里建有河鱼的交配区域,有助于渔业的发展。有一点遗憾的是没有对这里进行深度的旅游。

这次旅行让我们知道了如何尽可能减少大坝对周边生物群的影响,这一大坝做的非常不错,是值得世界学习的,鱼群离大坝约有10公里远,这样可以保证他们的繁衍,你也会参观这里的苗圃,大约有50万的植物会在湖边重新造林。由于导游准备充分,我们在这次生态之旅中学到了很多东西。

我很高兴看到水利枢纽的修建对于巴拉圭和巴西的工业发展有很大的帮助。发电厂刚刚落成,对于两个国家来说都是一大好消息。不过我要给总体点评减去一颗星,因为巴士之旅前面对于水利工程的影片介绍只有葡萄牙语,而且没有字幕,完全没法理解,这点还需要改进。巴士上的导游知识很丰富,而且非常具有热情,他会说汉语、英语和葡萄牙语,对我们来说很有用。大部分参团的都是当地人,我觉得非常有趣。对于这个工程未来会对这里的经济和贸易产生如何的影响,我也同样很感兴趣。

We took the morning trip out to the dam. It was a little over priced for what it was. They take you on a bus to three parts of the dam. It is very large and you do get a very good view of the penstocks and the lake behind. The lake is huge!!! Shared with Paraguay we actually cross the border over when we drove over the top of the dam. If you want to kill some time it is interesting but I wouldn't make it a destination.

Visited on Friday evening for the lighting of the dam. Tour startef at 20.00 and lasted 1 hour. Cost was $R16 per person. A bus collects visitors from the centre and drives to the dam where passengers alight onto the viewing platform. After a short film the lights are turned on in rhythm with an imposing sound track.The bus then returns via the footof the dam.If you are in the area to see the falls you should really go to Itaipu.

Its amazing to just be able to see the largest hydroelectric plant in the world located on the border of two countries. Would recommend everyone visiting that area to take a look at this plant!

Vey big dam shared by two countries. One must take the panoramic tour to know more about this dam. You can visit Paraguay without visa when you take this tour ( Just you enter a part of paruguay).

A great place and very interesting to visit.The guides are very attentive and knowledgeable about the place , telling stories that matter and hold the attention of anyone .

This dam, the largest in the world according to the guide, is impressive and well worth of a visit. besides the dam itself, there are nice forest views.

I have a background in engineering, so this visit to Itaipu Hydroelectric Dam was a thrill. Our first stop with the free tour bus let us see the overall view of the dam and gorge below it. The size is breathtaking, since the dam is 600 feet high, but so wide it looks fairly low. One of the the overflow gates was open, allowing a torrent of water to race down a concrete spillway 100 yards wide. It reached a speed of over 100 miles per hour before erupting upward over the river to rejoin the flow. Very impressive.Next we were driven down to the power turbine hall, a full kilometer long (3300 feet), and housing twenty huge turbines. These generate power from the water as it falls 600 feet through the turbines to spin the generators. Picture the power of a thirty-foot diameter column of water six hundred feet high, generating three hundred pounds of pressure per square INCH at the bottom. That is what spins each of the generators. No wonder that Itaipu still holds the record for the most power generated in a year by any dam. The Chinese have a bigger dam, but have yet to equal this output.Itaipu is a joint venture between Brazil and Paraguay, with each owning half the output power. Paraguay sells most of its power to Brazil, because it only need a fraction of it. That means that Paraguay gets the power they need at very low net cost.Before the Itaipu Dam was built, the itaipu Falls upstream were one of the wonders of the world. They are now submerged, part of the price of progress and "clean power" development. Having seen the improved quality of life hydro power makes possible in Brazil and Paraguay, I believe it was a price worth paying.Highly recommended!

This is the most impressed I've ever been by anything man made ever. The sheer size and scope of the thing is staggering. It is an absolute must go and you should defintely take the more complete special circuit tour over the panoramic one. Definetely worth it.

My wife and I visited the dam on 4th February this year. I am old enough to remember it being constructed and the major difficulties encountered in doing so. Engineers and forty thousand other workers eventually managed to overcome what seemed to be almost unsurmountable odds and it is now the hydro-electric dam with the biggest output of any in the world. It is a 4.8mile drive along its top and it actually comprises four connected dams - reinforced concrete, earth and rock fill ones. Sadly 149 workers died during its construction but what they achieved is breathtaking and well worth a visit when you go to Iguassu Falls - an hours drive and around 20 miles downstream of it. The facilities and regular tours at the dam are excellent and if, like us, you are old farts over 60, the bus tour is half price. Take my advice and visit it and, if you are from the UK, add your name to the 78,000 Brits who have already beaten you (and us) to it.
