Perhaps I am spoiled by how incredible the aquarium in Western Australia is, but I thought the Ubatuba Aquarium was really, really average. Lots of small, poorly maintained and presented tanks with pretty boring fish. Really smelly and not air conditioned. There is also a section of preserved animals in formaldehyde (like a dolphin and its baby) which is half interesting half sad/creepy. There are some little crocodiles which are probably the highlight. I think if you have little kids it would be worthwhile stopping here, but if you have teenagers or no children, I'd give it a miss.
The location and the price are very reasonable. $20 per adult. Kids pay $10. Well I really liked it there, specially one part of the attraction where it's possible to touch and feel the texture of some sea animals, such as the starfish. I recommend it. Awesome way of spending some time with the family.
A very cool Aquarius directed by oceanógrados 2 ( scholars of the oceans ) who met at the Faculty of Rio Grande / RS , national referral center for marine research and education center founded this . Besides the main attractions , marine animals of various seas has explanatory maps , local recreational activities for children , good service and good maintenance employees . We arrived in time to feed the friendly penguins shows (11:00 to 12:00 ) . There is a technique that guides , in one of the sites, such as " move your hand in starfish " and "after hand wash " course .The Aquarius possesses a small auditorium where the young and all we can well realize the effect of human activity on Oceans and reflect on our responsibility to the future and biodiversity . Admission costs $ 9.00 per person. Is the " Itaguá Beach ", shortly after the small river bridge . At the end has a shop with souvenirs to make the party the kids and grownups trambém . I made the visit with his wife at 1:30 am reading each explanation .
Don't go to the Ubatuba Aquarium , waiting for a lot of different species of fish , like the aquariums fro USA.But in a rainy day you can expend an hour with your child with a good entertainment .Not a big aquarium with a lot of fishes , but you can see one shark and pinguins
It's a nice place to go!It had a lot of diverse fish, two small alligators, and sharks.A great place to visit with family or friends,to learn more about the sea life of the region, and there are souvenir stores with beautiful things, books and other gifts...I like this place so much.Go there when you can.
It is big, with a huge variety of fish. There are sharks and penguins. The signs show details of the animals. It also has a place for ecological education.
It's a small aquarius, but still a good option for families while hanging aroung in the center city area. Nice penguin and sharks areas.
We have been lucky enough to have visited some fantastic aquariums overseas. Obviously , I can´t compare this place fairly to them . It is small and local , but it does its job nicely. It is a good place to get away from Ubatuba´s frequent rain. Our kids enjoyed it.
Vale o passeio e as fotografias...
