We discovered Sedona's wine at a small restaurant and when we saw they were participating in the Yea Arts Festival we decided to take a trip to the cellar door. The sign post to the winery is off the Melba Highway and after a number of twists and turns we found the cellar door nestled in a lovely part of the country. It is quite a way from the highway, but well worth the trip.We only planned to drop in to see the art, do a quick tasting and keep moving. However due to the excellence of the wines we stayed quite a while talking to the winemaker and were lucky enough to be invited to tour the winery itself. I fully recommend taking the time to get off the beaten track and experience Sedona Estate.

While out for a country drive, another winery suggested that we visit Sedona and sample their red wines and being red lovers, we had to visit. We were treated to a generous sampling of all of their wines and immediately fell in love. Both their whites and their reds were delicious with a good fruity nose and a ton of flavour. The setting was gorgeous, amongst the hills with fantastic views over the King Valley. The beauty is that it's a little over an hour's drive from Melbourne through some gorgeous countryside so easily reachable. If you can't make the trip out there, Sedona have a wine club that you can subscribe to online.

We first tried the Sedona wines at a restaurant in Yarra Glen. They were so good we had to hunt out the winery itself. We were not disappointed. We planned to stop for just a couple of bottles, but left with about a dozen. These are wines we share with our best friends.

We visited Sedona on a beautiful spring afternoon & were totally seduced by the beautiful surroundings, light & airy tasting area (Scandinavian overtones) plus the terrace overlookin vines & valley. We were wishing we hadn't had lunch prior to our visit so that we could have indulged in the Artisan Platter on offer(see photos for details)...another visit. Of course all winetasting is subjective & depends entirely on the individual but one of us couldn't resist walking away with a bottle of Reserve Shiraz, declaring this will not be shared with all & sundry. This is a magic place to take guests when all you need to be perfectly happy is a plate of good quality local produce, an excellent glass of wine (or 2) & an hour or two to savour the view. (NB. No coffee avail....they feel they are a winery not a cafe). Highly recommend
