We recently relocated from Sydney to Orange. Tony met us at the front door on a wet and misty Sunday with his gorgeous companion...Hannah the Jack Russell. We felt welcome from the first moment he offered the kids an orange juice. They were more interested in Hannah. The scenery, the chat, the artifacts .... The wines were amazing and we loved all three. The Shiraz beautifully smooth, the Rose delightful and the Sauvignon Blanc dry and fruitful. Thank you Tony we will definitely be back.

On a recent trip to Orange, we were recommended by our Bed & Breakfast host to visit Moody's Wines, a small vineyard on the outskirts of Orange operated by a great character, Tony Moody. Whilst there, you can view the Moody history which is displayed in the interior of the home. Don't be fooled by the appearance of the property when you first arrive. This is a prize winning Winery and Tony has the medals to prove it. After an interesting conversation with Tony and tasting, we chose to purchase the 2012 Shiraz and the 2013 Sauvignon Blanc. We also took away with us another of Tony's creations, Vin d' Orange desert wine. This is not the usual "cellar door" - all the wines are on display and for sale from his own home. We enjoyed our visit and the mood at Moody's.

Not your usual wine tasting experience. Tony hosted us at his dining table. He is a gentleman with many interesting stories to tell whilst you taste his wines. He grows the grapes on his one hectare vinyard that produces some very enjoyable wines that were the equal of much larger producers. I very much enjoyed Tony's hospitality. He has a very interesting collection of sommelier's cups on his dining room table.

Moody's Wines may be the smallest vineyard in Orange but it's one of the most characterful. Tony Moody is welcoming and a great source of unusual stories. It's not everyday that you hear about the challenges of importing a stuffed Kudu from Denmark while you are tasting award-winning Shiraz. The wines are good, esp the 2012 Shiraz, and if you enjoy either unusual wine flavours or good puns (I like both) you should certainly try Tony's Vin d'Orange. I'm looking forward to drinking my bottle back in London.

We often leave the map behind & see where we end up. Moodys vineyard was a true find! Tony the owner warmly welcomed us into his home, shared his wonderful wines and told us a few stories which were amazing! He certainly has been around & seen a few things along the way. His knowledge of wine is incredible. The wines are very easy on the palate & wallet. We highly recommend dropping in to this very quaint very idealic vineyard as im sure you'll leave in a great mood with some great wine to enjoy in any setting.

Had a lovely afternoon with Tony. Highly recommend the 2010 Shiraz & Sav Blanc. Yummy! Can't wait to enjoy tonight. Great venue, great stories & a fun lesson in African board games....Will be back!

Moody's Wines have a small range of wines but well worth the trip to the property. Tony is an absolute charactor! It was great to sit and enjoy not only the wine but his company and stories. Thank you Tony for making Orange a memorable trip.

I recently spent a weekend with Tony having not seen him since 1969 in Tanzania. I am a small organic macadamia gower in the Northern Rivers. It was great to see him again, catch up on 44 years, help him harvest his shiraz grapes AND drink his Wines. I particularly liked th 2008 Shiraz & my wife liked the Vin Orange I took home with me. A great liitle winery !! Chris W.

The setting is rather nice, the owner was abrupt and snobby. The wine was okay to poor... Don't recommend... Try Printhie instead!

Moodys wines' accolades speak for themselves. So no need to say too much more there, other than we love the wine! What I would like to expand on though is the owner:Tony Moody, who was so fantastically welcoming, great fun to have a chat/wine with, and most generous.(this review is very belated, but better late than never!)My wife and I visited during Wine Week 2012 in Orange during October and had such a great time there. We had cycled from downtown Orange all the way to Moody's Vineyard. After enjoying the afternoon there, we dreaded the ride back into town, as it was long and relatively hilly (my wife was seriously talking about somehow getting a taxi to take us and the bikes). When we mentioned our predicament, Tony offered us a ride back into town in his ute. I couldn't initially accept as it was very out of his way, but Tony insisted. And so, we put the bikes in the back of the ute, and he drove us back aaaall the way to our bed and breakfast accommodation!! We were so grateful, and to this day, every time I hear of Orange, it reminds me of this very kind man.Just wanted to say THANKS HEAPS again Tony! You're a Legend!Cheers,Daniel.

We went to Racine Restaurant and had the most beautiful sav blanc. We quickly discovered the wine was from a small winery close by and we knew we had to get some before our trip back to Canberra. We were so happy we stopped - so polite, friendly and made us feel comfortable. Before we knew it we were listening to great stories and tasting fantastic wine. We came for the sav blanc but we left with so much more. Could not be happier.

A tiny vineyard off the Icely Road, East of Orange, is well worth the short detour from the highway.Moody’s Wines produce a fine example of cool climate shiraz. Shiraz in a climate like Orange is all about terroir and passion. Vigneron Tony Moody has the passion and commitment to draw from his vines the best despite highly variable vintage conditions. He is also an amiable and generous host, freely sharing his knowledge of the wines and his multi-faceted life journey at his comfortable homestead cellar door. The wines are a treat! Expect significant vintage variation: from good to outstanding, the wines exhibit great finesse with fresh, spicy, black fruit in their youth. Cellaring will reward the effort and, no doubt, rekindle warm memories of your visit with Tony and his beautifully situated little vineyard.

We came across this small, picturesque vineyard when we took the back road from Bathurst to Orange. The owner, Tony Moody, came out to greet us. Inside, we tasted his Shiraz and Sauvignon Blanc. Both were wonderful; the Sauvignon had even won a local trophy as the best in the region. It certainly seemed to deserve it - we bought a case to take back with us.Tony was a real gentleman, and quite a character, with a great story to tell. Originally from England, he grew up in a family with a very long history in the wine trade. In his youth Tony lived in Kenya, and the house was full of memorabilia of his time there, including the stuffed heads of animals he had shot himself! Our time in the central west was wonderful, but Moody's Wines was definitely the stand-out moment of our trip.
