Went for a family meal on Saturday night. Big mistake. Ordered 4 meals and they took almost three quarters of an hour to arrive. One meal was a chicken schnitzel. When it was served, it came without gravy. I asked for gravy and it cost another dollar!!! My tai burger was 1 cm thick! One piece of tomato, a few lettuce pieces, the meat and bread roll. Over priced and disappointing meals. Won't be going back.
Not too bad a menu for a bowling club. The club is quite nice, they have your usual raffles . There is also a little cafe onsite serving cakes, coffee ect. Probably could have a few more craft beers on tap.
if you are visiting old bar nsw, you should pop into the club, nice cold beer friendly staff, good food, at reasonable prices, you only need to sign in once as it gives visitors 7 day of access without resigning each time.
Very friendly club. Meals are very tasty & very reasonable. The specials are extremely cheap, but very much appreciated by visitors and locals alike.
Actually your photo shows the Old Bar Surf Clubhouse but if you want a review of Club Old Bar it is my experience that Club Old Bar does not produce tasty and quality meals on a regular basis. The quality is haphazard and unreliable.
My husband and I went for a chicken schnitzel special and unfortunately I had an upset tummy for 2 days after. The meal was lukewarm and greasy. I had eaten at the bistro once before with the same result, perhaps its the oil they use or perhaps the oil is not changed enough. I will go back to the club but I wont be eating there for a long long time.
We were looking for a compromise half way point to drive take my dad out for his 70 th birthday as he was less mobile after a knee replacement and lives at manning point. My dads lamb chops were two very small and pitiful portions for $19 and a tight serving of chips. The marinara was bland and far too creamy and the salt and pepper squid really ordinary and over battered. Not the clubs fault but this incident does reflect attitudes of some who patronise the club..when we signed in the staff asked where we came from and my husband replied "wingham" the over weight lady signing in next to him said " oh poor you" which one often has to put up with after choosing to live in this area..Wingham actually has an award winning cafe which is listed in The Lonely Planet guide and a really funky farmers market which the town of old bar cannot lay a claim to. By the way my husband retorted to the obese lady " I would much rather live in Wingham than this dive".....with shocked response. We won't be back
The club was good once upon a time. But now staff are not polite or helpful and the toilets are terrible as they are usually unclean. The food at the bistro is quite average....with all of it tasting quite bland.
We really enjoyed the dinners we had at this club. On Monday, Wednesday and Thursday we enjoyed the $9 and $10 meals. Excellent value for money.
absolutely awful food. Frozen pizza for kids meals! Come on. Thats pathetic. Best bistro food ever! who wrote that. Obviously a director or employee of the club! Staff were rude and un-helpful and senior members of staff were the worst! (especially in the office at the front) Terrible customer service and toilets were a disgrace! Never going back. Ever.
Lovely little club, loved the meat raffles and food, not far from Old Bar Caravan Park where I have Stayed and enjoyed. Mostly I stayed at Wallabi Point where the family has a holiday house on the beach.
Well priced meals for adults although the kids meals were very ordinary, there should be more choice than just the usual fish and chips, nuggets and chips etc. Maybe a baked dinner? Perhaps something a little more nutritious that deep fried stuff and chips.
good atmosphere good prices and great views, we would definetly visit again
I would just like to say that the Old Bar Bowling Club (Club Old Bar) has the best bistro/club food ever. We recently stayed in Old Bar and dined at the club twice, with all six of us stating that it was the BEST CLUB FOOD WE HAVE EVER HAD (and we have had a lot of club meals on our travels). The salad was so fresh, I would have thought they picked it from their own garden. The fish so fresh, I would have thought they caught it just before we ordered. The Green Chicken Curry with Hokkien Noodles was full of chicken, not bulked up with noodles. All kitchen staff wore hats which should be mandatory in all commercial kitchens and the cleanliness was unbelievable. Keep up the good work. We hope to start our way from the beginning of the menu and work our way through on our next stay and Oh..... the prices, so reasonable, we don't plan on buying and cooking our own next visit.
