We had three nights at this 'campsite' and it was one of the highlights of our trip. Our young guide, Jade, was the perfect host, driving the big 4WD, helping with the cooking, guiding our trip, providing tea and coffee, wine and nibbles on trips and so forth. Could only find the day trips bit on trip advisor, but if you get the chance to go, go for the whole deal - you need four days to fully appreciate what is offered by Geoff & Rene and his great team. The 'tents' themselves were very comfortable, with a double and two single beds. Do be warned, thought, that it gets cold at night even in the height of summer.the trips arranged on each of the four days we were there were totally different and very enjoyable: We saw plenty of kangeroos, emus and koalas in the wild, and lots of very colourful birds too. Every evening the food was fabulous - cooked by the host and his wife and a couple of staff, and nothing was too much trouble. It was all washed down with ample quantities of the Ozzie wine, to which you were invited to help yourself from the kitchen fridge whenever you liked (but no one on our trip abused this lovely privilege, which is good!). The camp only takes four to six people on each safari, which means you all get individual attention. On the last day of our trip there was a swimming with sealions option. We went on the trip but didnt go in the water because the water was far too flipping cold, even with the wetsuits provided. We were the only ones not to go in the water, but on the plus side we got some amazing pictures and videos of the sealions, which of course those in the water didnt get....So if you get the chance, do go on this trip. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would recommend it to others and would definitely go again if we were ever in the vicinity.

Visited in April 2014. I flew from Moorabbin to Wudinna in a private air charter with Kirkhope aviation then out to Kangaluna and Gawler Ranges with Rene and Geoff and enjoyed the whole trip immensely. Also visited Baird Bay fantastic swimming with Seals and Dolphins and later in the trip Kangaroo Island. All great but the highlight was Kangaluna Camp, the trip through the Gawler Ranges and visit to Lake Gairdner and the hospitality and knowledge of Rene and Geoff - all in three days. Flying with Kirkhope Aviation with excellent pilot/guide was a great way to get to ths location from Melbourne. I will definitely return.

In November 2014, we have spent 4 fantastic days at Camp Kangaluna . We were picked up at the airport of Port Lincoln Jayde our tour guide for the coming days . She skillfully drove the SUV and gave us a lot about the plants and wildlife. After the southern coast of Australia we traveled 4 weeks and in vain looked for koalas out we experienced there , the animals nearby. Many other animals such as kangaroos , emus , sea lions , dolphins , etc., we could observe . The landscape was unique ( real Australia) huge salt lakes , unique rock formations and not a soul . Our accommodation was very well looked after and cooked by Geoff in Kangaluna Camp in comfortable safari lodges . Kangaroos and emus came to the front door. A great Erelebnis in the bush of Australia and the highlight of our 6 week trip to Australia .

Our group of three couples have just enjoyed Geoff and Rene's company on a four night trip with Gawler Ranges Wilderness Safaris. Geoff collected us in Port Lincloln, we then visited a koala sanctuary with plenty of these cuddly guys snoozing in the branches of the eucalypts and then onto the camp where we enjoyed drinks at the nearby salt lake at sunset - absolutely glorious! Over the next three days we saw plenty of Australian flora and fauna in natural habitat - a huge Western Red kangaroo proved a very co-operative photo subject! Lots of emus with their chicks. It was early enough in the season for the salt lakes of the area to still have some water in them so the effect was stunning - looked like you could have skated on the water. Rene always welcomed us back to camp at the end of a long day with delicious nibbles and then beautiful fresh, homemade fare - wine flowed freely!! The four day experience was just that - four full, interesting and scenic days. If booking a tour with Gawler Ranges Wilderness Safaris consider spending a few days on the Eyre Peninsula which is such a productive part of Australia from tuna and kingfish farming, many oyster leases, grain and livestock production and the people are all so friendly.

Superlative! Rosie had consumate knowledge of plants and geology. She also showed us how sand track driving should be done using her 'shortcut' tracks. Her insights into life in the bush and her own talented background was awesome. Her advice as to tracks to take the next day was also spot on. Many thanks.

I can't recommend this experience highly enough. On the one hand, to be living among kangaroos and emus - on the other to be receiving the informed guiding and unforced hospitality of Geoff and Jayde. And all the better for having the numbers at the camp quite limited.

Dear Geoff and Rene! I would like to express our thanks to you for your fantastic tours which have always made our clients (Ozeania Reisen) very happy and have to date classed this experience as one of the great highlights of their Australia trip! I myself have experienced the safari-tours too, been to Kangaluna Camp twice now and can truly say the same - way to go Mates! yeayyyy! What an absolute highlight, a beautiful nature experience in an amazingly beautiful and remote, and fortunately still very much untouched area! You and your Staff are the best and we love it! Clare and your Team ozeania (Switzerland)!

We spent three awesome days with Jayde and Geoff. Everything was absolutely perfect ! We loved every second of it and would do it again in a heartbeat !We started our tour by having lunch while watching wild koalas interact with their Joey ! How awesome is that ? We then headed to camp kangaluna and discovered our tent. Magic ! Best place ever to spent a part of our honeymoon !We enjoyed the wild animals, the landscape and the meals with the rest of the group ! Excellent service the whole time ! We also enjoyed the sunset in the national park and lake gairdner (a salt lake). It was incredible !We will never forget our swim with the sea lions ! It doesn't get any better than that !!! This fantastic safari was the highlight of our Australian holiday!! The friendly and personal nature of this experience sets it apart from all others. Being in a small group allows you to get to know your hosts and fellow travellers, allows flexibility in your schedule and made us feel involved in the day not just passive spectators. We were absolutely amazed by the sights and developed such a sense of appreciation for the scale, granduer and beauty of the outback. Geoff's knowledge of flora, fauna, history and geology put real meaning into what we were seeing and experiencing. The camp was luxurious but naturally rustic and in keeping with the surroundings, wine and food amazing!!!

The last few days spent with Geoff and Irene at their wilderness camp just outside the Gawler Ranges National Park in South Australia comes as close as it gets to my best-ever travel experience. Astounding wildlife, spectacular scenery, a superbly knowledgeable yet laid-back host who provided fascinating insights into the history, geology, flora and fauna of this ancient land (thank you Geoff!) and wonderful food and drink that, after a long day on the road, perfectly hit the spot (thank you Irene!). Many hours spent travelling through the national park were well and truly made up for by the highly comfortable 4 wheel drive, the great meals on and off the road, and the knowledge that our very comfortable and highly private tent was waiting for us at the end of each day. While the salt encrusted Lake Gairdner was the highlight for us, I am sure that the opportunity to experience and photograph the prolific wildlife must have topped the list for the four international guests who made up the remainder of our small, diverse group. Expensive? Yes. Worth it? Absolutely. As highly travelled Australians, I had no idea that Australian tourism could be this good. We feel incredibly privileged to have had this highly tailored, very special experience.

We had a fantastic time on our 3 day / 2 night outback safari with luxury accommodation, excellent food and personal service. We had a private safari with Geoff and Rosie. Geoff knows the outback like the back of his hand and he is passionate about protecting it. We saw loads of wildlife and spectacular scenery and even did some star gazing through the powerful onsite telescope. Geoff is also an excellent cook, we were very pleasantly surprised by the gourmet food. Rosie is a wildlife artist and is very knowledgeable about Australian flora and fauna. On the third day we had an amazing dolphin and sea lion swim. We had the boat to ourselves and Alan from the Baird Bay Ocean Eco Experience made sure that we had an incredible interaction with the dolphins and sea lions. We would love to do the safari again and can't recommend it highly enough.

We have spent 3 days and 2 nights with the Gawler Rangers Safaris to take advantage of a long weekend break. We requested a non regular departure date and were cheerfully accommodated ending up the only guests in the camp. After a 40 minute flight from Adelaide we were picked up at Port Lincoln, 2 hours drive from the camp and our safari began. Over the next 3 days we saw an abundance of wildlife and a spectacular display of wildflowers with the most surprising discovery the Lake Gardiner, a 100 mile long salt lake covered with a snow white cover of salt in the middle of red hills of the bush. The sights offered incredible diversity from stunning rock formations, to secluded lakes, from fire red sunsets to the morning fog and of course the kangaroos, emus and birds. We stayed in the Kangaluna Kamp, a 3 tent camp just outside of the Gawler Rangers National Park. The African safari like tents were spacious, each with its own bathroom and a small deck. Meals were served in a common tent. The organisation of the safari was excellent, with our host, guide, driver and companion Geoff, an owner of the company and designer of the camp supplying an informative commentary and guidance not to mention the lakeside sunset drinks. There is a fair amount of driving within the park so the days can be long with lunch on the go while you are sightseeing. It is not a leisure trip as you are on the go all day and after a day of sightseeing we were very happy to collapse into our very comfortable beds only to do it again the next day. Despite this, after 3 days we felt invigorated, mentally rested and keen to see more of Australia. We have seen places that we have never heard of, that could easily compete with much better known sights, and yet most Australians have never come this way. We emerged back to civilization on day 3 feeling as if we had been away for longer and in greater appreciation of how amazing this part of Australia is - so little known and yet so accessible. While not cheap, the trip was worth its price.
