Great little museum for anyone interested in the Alaska Highway. The difficulties of building this road were huge, and the men who overcame those difficulties should be remembered and recognized. I would recommend this museum to everyone starting up the Alcan from Dawson Creek.
Thank you for your response! We take great pride in promoting the history of the Alaska Highway! We love sharing the incredible stories of the soldiers and civilians that blazed over 1500 miles of trail.
Thank you for your review and comments, underway1976!It is truly an engineering feat! Over 1500 miles in 8 months in frigid and extreme conditions. We are glad you had a great time at the Alaska Highway House!
Thank you for your review and comments, bpprid!I am so glad the summer staff were friendly and helpful! Our goal is for every visitor to receive a 'Mile 0 Post Pin' and (if comfortable) to get their photo on the actual Mile 0 Post!
Thank you for your review and comments, Anne-Marie N.The PBS Documentary 'American Experience: Building the Alaska Highway' is an incredible documentary that truly showcases the vast scope of building the 1500 mile highway in 1942.We love to share the stories of soldiers and civilians with visitors.
Gives a good picture of the building of the Alaska Highway. An interactive presentation. The staff is friendly, there is a small charge.
This is a definite must-see if you want to learn about the building of the highway and get a kick-start to the Alaska Highway. The video is very good - but long and the chairs aren't very comfortable, but it is worth it. The museum element takes time to enjoy so 30 minutes is good. Unfortunately the 'send a postcard' didn't work, and after staff fixed it, the folks who received the card could open it.
