They were blown away by this golf course. Everything that has been written about the magnificence of this place, all the hype, well, it's true. Things will continue to get better when phase 2, Cabot Cliffs opens this year. Golf aficianidos around North America will rejoice.

Although it is a long drive from New England to Inverness and the Cabot Trail, the entire experience is well worth the trip !! The Cabot Links course is challenging, in a beautiful ocean front setting, and worth every dollar of the cost. Next summer with the addition of the Cabot Cliffs course, it will be near the top of all serious golfers top destinations. The hotel accommodations are quite modest, but they are adding more rooms this summer. It is also my understanding that they now have approval and will soon have an airport nearby. We combined our journey with a stay and play at Fox Harbor, also in Nova Scotia and also well worth playing. With the Cabot Trail near by, you can golf in the morning and hike in the afternoon.

It doesn't look like a hotel from the street or even the parking lot but the room was very well decorated and the bathroom and shower were immaculate. The view out to the golf course can't be beat.

Wind - rolling hills - a long walk. Enjoyed the golf - did it with caddie and without. The value is the issue for me. The price of golf with Caddie is quite expensive. The course was in good shape in Sept 2014, but as on reviewer said - a little inconsistent on the greens.But I think everyone agrees the food is excellent. The bar area and outdoor areas are great for both couples and groups.Its a long trip to get here. Other courses within an hours ride make it a good golf destination. I think the opening of the 2nd course will make it a much better destination in 2015 and beyond.Although a peek at that shows its all on the hills - so if they stick to no carts - you better be a marathon runner to play that course.

Well worth the trip from Halifax NS and an amazing day. The golf course is breathtaking. Well worth having a class A caddy - even if you're not a great golfer (like me). John and Alex made our day special and we both learnt so much about playing true links golf - now I understand what they are talking about on Morning Drive! Caddies are $60 plus tip for class A and $45 for class B plus tip (pay directly with cash). Got a glimpse of Cabot Cliffs - about half the course is completed apprarently. Having both courses available in the near future will make it a truly special destination for any golfer.

I have played golf in more than 30 countries on six continents and this is the most beautiful golf course I have ever played. I haven't any of the Irish courses, but I have played the Old Course at St. Andrews, Royal Dornoch, the Ocean Course at Kiawah, Barnbougle Dunes, Pinehurst #2, Jasper, Highlands Links, Riviera, and The Country Club - this is #1. The previous reviewer MarkfromtheIsland must have obviously played a lot better list of courses than I have to have such a negative impression of Cabot Links. The service was fantastic, the green fees much lower than any course of this caliber. We had a great caddy (Tom). Holes 11-16 are absolutely incredible, all of them along the ocean. Don't miss this golf experience.

This is a nice setting for a links course. Right along the ocean - the windswept dunes and scrub make for a fine vista. Unfortunately Cabot Links knows how to charge but not how to deliver. The course is rough - really rough. Not in the sense of a links course rough but in the sense that they don't seem to spend any of their very high greens fees on the course.There are few (if any - I don't recall seeing any) ball washers. The tee blocks are pieces of 2x6 lumber with fading writing on them. The paths - when there are any - are a horrible reddish gravel that doesn't pack worth a damn and is tiring as heck to walk on. The flags, flag poles, cups etc. are the cheapest, crappiest ones that I've seen anywhere to date. The fairways are in okay shape - nothing great. The greens run the gamut of very rough to very good. All in all it's a real mixed bag of some-good, some bad, some very bad, nothing exceptional. The construction quality around the course is sub-par and reflects poorly on the course itself.Apparently the management likes to consider it 'rustic'. I think that's just a cop out way of saying 'we aren't gonna spend a penny more than we need to'. My feeling is that this is a $65 course that touts their 'links' title to lure people into spending $150.Maybe it needs a few years to mature - maybe it needs some operators who don't mind throwing some money back into the course. I know I won't be back for this quality of play at this price point.On a bright note the restaurants and bars are very good and the wait staff are really nice.

1st visit in '13 was a great experience. We took visitors there in Aug '14 and didn't really see the value for the price/experience. Out of province guests paid $223 thanks to a year 2 price hike (without caddie), no snack bar before round, no real on course service to speak of, course conditions were rough (greens especially) to put it nicely. The kid that (I think) was supposed to greet us at the bag drop off was texting, didn't even look up to say hello. At the halfway hut we were dying for a sandwich but were told about the "great" sandwiches they usually sell, but were unfortunately "out of buns that day". Pretty sure you can buy some buns in town, merely yards away. Instead we got the last pack of beef jerky (4 of us shared it) and the worst skinny little over priced hot dog! I've never written a review in my life, and maybe we caught them on a bad day but 4 of us left feeling rather underwhelmed. The next day we drove over to Crowbush, and were greeted in the parking lot by friendly staff, clubs cleaned, paid $119 for 18 with awesome conditions. After 18 we asked if we could go around again and found out that replay green fee's are essentially free, you just need to pay the $22 for the power cart. So $80 - $90 less for 36 well conditioned holes vs 18 so/so conditioned holes....and the halfway hut had lots of buns, and a great selection of sandwiches! The Cabot layout/scenery is great, I'm sure the course conditions will improve, looking forward to the Cliffs and a driving range. Hopefully the service will continue to get better.

as a fan of links courses, i enjoyed playing cabot links, but found it needs a bit of maturing. i expect to see some changes to the course in the foreseeable future. that said, i'm glad i played it. i'm glad i had a caddie (mind boggling putting). and i hope to be back again. it's great fun.

An incredible golf experience one of the only links courses in Canada very professional staff and a high end restaurant and more casual pub second to none anywhere

This is a newer golf course with an excellent design struggling a bit with maintenance. The design is top notch presenting all levels of golfers with a variety of challenges. The better the golfer,the greater the challenges (waste areas, water, bunkers and elevation changes). Unfortunately, this is a newer course and apparently suffered greatly during a harsh winter. Many of the greens show quite a bit of damage as does some of the fairway. Recovery will take quite a bit of effort by the Staff as well as some time. Hope for the best as this is an excellent course.

Cabot links is a beautiful golf course, hubby golfed while I relaxed, mesmerized by the gorgeous view of the atlantic

The food is amazing and service exceptional. The dining room is only open for dinner but there is a full lunch "pub" menu which is by no means a pub menu unless all pubs on Cape Breton serve gourmet food.

Situated along the Atlantic Ocean, in Cape Breton Island, the Cabot Links golf course offers breath-taking views from every hole. My husband and I enjoyed a warm sunny afternoon golfing and admiring the beautiful views as we played a round of golf. The course is fun and challenging with the occasional sand bunker that is deeper than I am tall. For all those golfers out there hope on a plane or whatnot and get out there for a round or two. Cabot Links is rated #2 in Canada and #42 in the world! I strongly recommend playing a round but try to avoid the bunkers......

My wife and I played here on Canada Day at the twilight rate: $105 each after 3pm. Cabot Links is an upscale experience, but the staff was unpretentious and genuine. The starter, a retired and amusing local gent, sent us off with homemade chocolate chip cookies, a handful of tees and markers, and a few kind words of advice. The fairways were firm but lush, resulting in some lengthy drives. The greens were rock hard, and forced approaches in the traditional bump and run style. The views of the ocean and cliffs are spectacular. The gorse and fescue defining the fairways gives the links a wild and beautiful look. We played a day after Matt Kuchar and his dad, during which Kuchar shot a 64. Given I had 42 putts alone, a 64 is hard to comprehend. But I'm willing to try again. Construction is currently underway next door at Cabot Cliffs, a Crenshaw and Coore project. That one's on the agenda for 2015.Pull carts are available, motorized carts are not. If you can't get away to the old country for some genuine links play, this is not a bad alternative. Fore!
