I have visited this site quite a few times by vehicle & always had a picnic lunch & loved the walkabout ...however the one time we stayed in wawa especially to c the falls with friends who hadn't seen it before turned into a bit of a fiasco. We were on motorcycles & were told by dude at gas station that the road was good but it turned out it had been graded to the soft beach sand common in the area so the touring motorcycles & trailers we were on could not make it to the falls. Sadly we had turn around before dumping our rides & left without showing our friends the awesome sight :(
Talking to locals in the area. I was told of this falls. It was not disappointing. A must see. There is also a hiking trail alongside the falls. I was fortunate to see them open the gates further up to experience the full force of the falls
The falls are pleasant but the fence around them is ugly and detracts from the experience. I suppose Hydro is worried about lawsuits, but something could be done to make this a better attraction.
You travel down on dirt road for a short distance but the falls are definitely worth the effort! Be ready to see the occasional moose running by ready to great you!
This falls is a spillway and it's ok but there are so many real falls to visit nearby. At the time we visited the falls there was a lot of water but it could also be shut down depending on the weather.
Nice but a little hard to get to for older folks. Pretty falls. Nice area. Good parking. Very nice area.
The falls is controlled by the hydroelectric dam nearby. The day we visited there was no water flowing down the falls. Had there been an advisory sign we would not have driven the three miles down a dirt road to see nothing.
This is a gem. Great views, with platform and walkway to a second viewing area.Picnic area available.Vault toilets.
I love these waterfalls. The fence around it is a bit of a downer but the falls are beautiful and you can hike around them. :D Definitely nice to see.
The falls were excellent and a trip down the south trail to the next set of falls was a workout for two 49 year olds. The middle of the hike was a little hard due to the climb on rock out cropping's. Great photo opportunities and we saw a grouse in the middle of the hike.
It's rather a show-up and click destination, and the falls themselves are largely the result of the hydroelectric dam above, but pretty nonetheless.
nice falls, kind of like a veil the way they are spread out..easy to find..walkway to view ..nice little park setting
Overall I would say the Falls were quite impressive. We visited early July 2014 and even though the water wasn't at full flow they were worth the short drive off the highway. There is a short hiking trail and washroom facilities if needed.
The falls were a spectacular site when we visited since it was late May and the rivers were flowing very strongly. Recommend to visit in spring if possible.
We went to High Falls last year while visiting family in Wawa. I've seen a number of waterfalls over the years (kind of an obsession) and this one is certainly near the top of the list. A bit of a drive in, but it is worth it. Make sure to bring your camera and a rain coat otherwise you will be drenched from the mist.
