We went to the River Run Centre to see Johannes Linstead, and we thought it was great! We were in the smaller auditorium; the acoustics were perfect, and we had a clear view of the whole stage. We love the more intimate settings for concerts, and this was no exception! The River Run sent me an email prior to the concert warning that parking may be an issue, due to a hockey game at the Sleeman Centre, but it didn't affect us as we had booked an AirBnB close to the Centre, and we walked to the concert. We will definitely be back for future shows:)
Saw Toopy and Binoo! My son loved it. Great atmosphere and excellent venue. I will definitely be back.
We went with some friends to see a tribute concert with Elton John and Bill Joel. The only issue we saw was parking. There is very limited parking at the facility so you have to park at the Sleeman centre across the street. That Friday night had a hockey game on so we had a little walk to get to the centre. Seats are very comfortable and set so everyone has a good view of the stage. We were lucky enough to get seats in "Q" row which had individual chairs. This is also the row for wheelchair access but there is plenty of seating available across the auditorium. Staff is friendly and helpful.Acoustics were acceptable but we all noticed that the music was loud enough to cause distortion from the speakers. A little quieter and the sound would have been much better. I don't mind loud music but do require good quality sound.A pleasant evening in a well designed facility.
Whether your interest is a symphony concert, songs from the greats like Elvis and Billy Joel or some fine gospel singing it is likely that you might find it here in the heart of this small city just a short drive from Mississauga, Hamilton or Kitchener.Being the Christmas season my wife wanted to see the recently announced Festival of Trees and I tagged along. It was my first visit to the venue and what a surprise. It really is delightful. Seating is comfortable and there are even "boxes" to the sides. Acoustics are good too and like in most theaters these days you can pre-order refreshments for the intermission — really saves the crush. For those with a mobility challenge I noticed there was Disabled parking at the front of the theater. There is also a parkade across the street. Washrooms are also easily accessed in the theater. If you live within an hour or are visiting this delightful university city then please check out what might be playing at the River Run Centre. If you are like me, you won't be disappointed.
We love to come back to River Run for any event. There is always nice atmosphere. Guests are nicely treated by very kind and friendly staff. This Place is always spotless. Looking forward to more interesting events or concerts in new season.
Went to see the show, "The King and the Wild Man" Elvis and Jerry Lee Lewis, Fantastic show!!This is the second time I have been there, seats are great. The only thing is the sound system isn't like some places that are newer. Also the place is very warm and stuffy.
Need healthier food and more choice - vegetables and dip; sandwiches; pita and hummus - more protein. Currently they serve only pizza, canned soup, and bagels. Lots of carbs., fat and salt. Restaurants in this area close EARLY. Step up!
I LOVE LOVE this venue that we have here in Guelph. I've seen many shows over the years which included: full length classical concerts by the Guelph Symphony Orchestra, children's Kinderconcerts, world class/Canadian talents such as Cole Wilkinson, Justin Hines, Jim Brickman, Luke McMaster, high school concerts to name a few. I've had the thrill of meeting performers such as Justin Hines, Jim Brickman and Luke McMaster after their concerts for a meet and greet and without the long line-ups that you would get at other venues too. The programming has always been fresh, exciting and there is something for everyone. Walking through it, is in itself, a magical experience with the beautiful view of the Speed river behind it.I always try to attend the annual St. Joseph's Festival of Trees fundraising event (free admission) which usually takes place at the end of November until about December 13th. You can view gorgeous trees decorated by various businesses/individuals in the community and you can vote for your favourite Christmas tree(s) by putting coins in the boxes provided; this event always puts me in the Christmas spirit and is a must-see for all ages! The two concert rooms are large, versatile, modern and the acoustics are fantastic; there is no bad seat in either room. The volunteer ushers and staff have always been friendly and helpful. As far as parking goes, it can be a problem with hockey games going on across the street at the Sleeman Centre, however, I've always managed to find free parking on the street and do not mind the walk. One just has to plan ahead of time and if there are different events going on that might make parking a challenge, in the past, I have received an email from the River Run Centre to let me know; I thought was a nice customer service touch. Having been to many shows in downtown Toronto and in other bigger cities, I am very thankful we have this world class place right here in our backyard. I plan on attending many more shows in the future and I highly recommend you check it out, too!
Beautiful Venue! Were here for CNDC Dance Comp and loved it! Great space for such an event! Do hope to return there again one day.
Every year we visit this location for a dance competition for our daughter. This is a well designed theatre in a great location. Always clean and well maintained. Parking is sometimes an issue.
This is a nice venue. It has two separate stages for difference size events. Both are comfortable with good sight lines. Excellent scenic area (by the river) with decent parking across the street at the Sleeman Centre (enter from Macdonnell Street.)
They open it up for the christmas tree charity event! I really enjoyed it and the free entrance fee was nice too
If you haven't heard and seen the Guelph Symphony Orchestra perform, you must! great selection of composers, beautifully delivered. The audience is from all age groups and the ambience is fantastic.
The river run centre has excellent acoustics and can accomodate anything from a musical review, individual artists, to the Three tenors.
Visited to see Joseph. The staff were all very friendly and happy to help. Seating was comfortable and I don't think there is a bad seat in the house. The sound system was good delivering sharp quality sound. Well worth a visit to see the latest production.
