The course is tough...no denying but the absolutely beautiful scenery and the changes in each hole make is a diamond of a golf course. My husband and I have played 4 times this year and I look forward to each round. The individual holes range from very long and wide open to very, very short and narrow. Don't be fooled though, even the easiest looking hole is NOT. The staff is great and the course is in remarkable shape.
Played this course a few times, and I am still impressed by the interesting layout, great condition of the course, especially the greens, and the beauty of the crafts placed in interesting spots around the course. It is short, on paper, but it does not play very short. Also, it is very challenging, but fair. If and when they get a decent clubhouse, there will be line-ups to play this course. Sand traps are among the best I have played, Steven Sawyer has done a fantastic job with the design and layout, as well as ongoing maintenance.
Played this course 3 times while staying in Cobourg. Wow - it's a tricky yet playable course with greens and fairways in great shape. Even the sand traps, which I visited, had the best sand I've seen in along time Add beautiful view and scenery. It is tucked away off the beaten path, but more than worth making the trip. We'd only planned on playing once but went back for two extra rounds. Be careful there is a small course named shelter valley creek right after turning onto Shelter Valley Creek road. But you need to travel north for about 3km further. Adding this course to any road trip along the 401. Will make for a great stop. They have a small BBQ restaurant for light lunches so make a meal stop as well
