A lovely temple that's very close to the Taipei Confucius Temple. Was pretty quiet when we visited at about five in the evening, and couldn't spot any English signs anywhere which was a pity as it would have been nice to read about history etc. Unless we missed them of course! Worth a quick look if you like temples.
The temple itself is beautiful to visit, with century old wall paintings (can you spot Mulan?!). As a UNESCO site, there are free tour guides during the weekend. They are quite knowledgeable and will allow you to discover more of the history of this site, signification of every piece of details, funny stories and chinese mythology and history. Well worth it!
If you are only visiting Taipei then you must visit this magnificent temple. Old (category 1), full of history and very spiritual. Its open late and is less crowded in the evenings, and light settings at night gives it more intense feeling.Visited December 2014
Great to see from the ground the views are better from the Gondalas. There is a mall under neath it. Taipei 101 stop on the red line
But since it's close to the Confucius temple, it's worth crossing the road. A modern temple with an ancient spirit.
I believe the temple is pronounced BaoAn in Chinese, but I could be wrong on this...Located next to the Confuscius Temple, it's worth visiting them together. It's not a big temple, and there were few people when we stopped by. Like most temples, it was rebuilt, and therefore looks quite nice. But since no one were around, I just didn't get that well-worshipped feelings I was hoping to get.
An interesting temple, but I've seen many temples and this was not particularly exciting. I wouldn't put it on the top of my list.
The changing of the guard, all done is slow motion, is very different and great to watch. Get to the railings on the second floor for the best view.
